Chromecast w/GTV loops at Signing In

During setup, when it attempts to "sign-in" to my account, it keeps looping and never logs in, why, why won't it get past this?!? I have 2 factor USB key password protection turned on, and my 21 Razr 5G uses hardware encryption and it still refuses to sign in!

The second the screen to verify it's me comes up, it jumps back to the signing in screen and keeps looping that. I don't want to have to type it all in again in this insecure location, and I shouldn't have to! Especially when there's no way to hide my password when I'm typing it in and I have no idea what I have typed if it's not.

I'm using everything upgraded/updated to beta's where possible and current everywhere else, especially the "Home" app. I have already reset/reinstalled/rebooted everything many times over to no avail. This is a first Gen Chromecast w/GTV first released edition white model, so I've had it for a while now and done many updates to it since I got it and it's been giving me increasingly frustrating problems, this was a reset because several of the main apps, WebView, Store, etc refuses to update, so I have reset it now this is the 12th time in an hour just to get it this far. (Previous times when updates messed up settings, give less of a headache as this time, with USB Key security turned on!)

It didn't like I was connected to my 5G service, had Google 1 VPN on, and was using WiFi phone service, I had to turn all those off to get this far, do I also have to loosen up my security settings just to use this?!? Why have all these security settings if they're not being used on your own products?!? What moron programmed this software so it's incompatible with your own security features?!?

How do I get past this issue without having to redo everything in an insecure fashion?!? Using the remote to physically type in passwords is insecure!!!

Hi CyborgAlienRay,

Thanks for reaching out. If you're using a security key and encrypted device, you might be having an issue setting up the Chromecast with Google TV as this will restrict your device to connect or complete the set up. Also, Chromecast devices don't support or recommend the use of VPN's. It's recommended to be connected to a home Wi-Fi network where the VPN setting is disabled in the Wi-Fi router for you to be able to set it up and use again.

Please use a regular Google Account and another mobile phone to set up your Chromecast. Once it is set up and your devices are connected to the same network, you'll be able to cast video content to it.

Thanks,

Jennifer
