LG's WebOS TV seems to constantly try to connect to the Chromecast unprompted. This results in a "Bluetooth pairing request" pop up to appear sporadically and interruptingly while using the Chromecast.
Now this does seem to be a issue from an LG update. I've contacted LG with little help. I was hoping i could disable all "Bluetooth pairing request", but that doesn't seem possible on the Chromecast.
I've spent days trying to find a solution and have found others with similar issues dating back to January 2023. The one commonality is that the connecting device is always an 'LGWebOSTV'. It seems unfortunate but I will need to return the Chromecast if i can get this resolved.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve searched through both the LG and Chromecast menus and don’t see anything in either that stops this from happening.

Had the same issue for months until the most recent LG firmware update 03.33.15. It's been 3 days since update. No dumb pairing request so far.

Same issue here. The LG TV software version is 03.33.16. No option to disable Bluetooth pairing requests anywhere. Incredibly annoying, making using the devices together pretty much unusable. LG needs to fix the pairing request issue, or Google needs to come up with a way of blocking requests for certain devices. Come on!

This has been going on for over a year and still no fix or even an official acknowledgment?? What a fkn joke. I was In house for google hardware for 5 years and the problem with a company like this is that they dont need google store to survive. It wasnt like apple who had to set a standard of top tier performance and ux/quality of life to become a successful company. The infrastructure and data their benefit here. Bet this is definitely political. Either LG is trying to get data and positioning or vice versa and the opponent is blocking, and it is obviously more important than the customer’s UX. The LG C2 is one of the most popular TVs on the planet and ive come across hundreds if not thousands of posts about this and not a peep about something that makes a product absolutely unusable, especially if you are casting (the irony) because you have to keep unlocking your phone/tablet and recasting every 10sec to 5min. Ridiculous.

I found a temporary solution. I'm not so sure that the problem is caused by the chromecast. I think that what is happening is that LG TV sees that a BT device is available and continuously ask it to get paired until it's done. The message is from Chromecast that recognize a pairing attempt and shows its pairing code. Going to the LG TV device settings page it doesn't show the Chromecast, even if is the one who asked it!
Anyway, I found the correct setting on Chromecast to stop allowing LG TV to ask for a pairing. On your Chromecast go to: Settings > Apps > App permissions > Nearby devices > find "Android TV Remote Service" and remove its permission. Yes, this would mean that the TV will not be able to manage Chromecast as a BT remote control... but, anyway, it doesn't work at all!
Hope this helps.

So...your resolution allows the Google TV remote to continue controlling the Google TV device, just not the LGWebOS TV? Because I'm fine with that outcome.

Thanks, give this a go and hope for the best!

I found a workaround to solve this. Since I use a ROKU device I don't use any of the LG smart tv features I simply disconnected my TV network access and that resolved the problem. I won't get any software updates on the TV, but they seem to cause more problems than they fix.
