My Chromecast with Google TV does not provide a HD picture. The menu pages appear to be OK but the streaming content is definitely low-res. I confirmed that it is the Chromecast device by switching it out with one from another room. The problem follows the Chromecast device, so it is not a router, TV, or receiver problem.

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. Kindly go to Settings > Display and Sound > Resolution, then choose what you prefer. You can also try Settings > Display and Sound > Advanced display settings > Format selection > Show formats > and choose from the available options (the options detected are based on the TV). Normally, this is set to automatic, but it still depends on the TV. You can also try a factory reset for a full clean-up. Let us know how it goes.
