Closed Caption Not Synced with Cast Content
1) I am not sure exactly what Gen...it is built into my TV and I have no idea how to determine, but I believe it is Gen 2. I also have a Gen 3 external Chromecast, and this issue replicates when using it as well.
2) When viewing streaming content (in this case a movie) in up-to-date Chrome browser, everything is fine re: (non-live) closed captions are synced with streaming content. But when I cast to TV, captions are OK and correctly synced for some random amount of time (5, 10, 20 mins), but then streaming content seems to jump around a bit, sometimes forward, sometimes backward, and from there on out nothing I can do will sync the CC up with the cast content again. This includes refreshing browser and restarting content and re-casting...it just stays out of sync at that point, and/or gets worse. If I stop casting, either at TV or in browser, and just continue watching in browser, then everything is fine/as expected again. So whatever is happening appears due to the casting, not the content or captions stream.
3) This is consistent across several websites, but is not an issue on YouTube (although I have other issues like can't control TV cast from remote control, e.g. pausing.) I am not getting into the game of checking or enumerating website by website; this question/issue is primarily about how the closed captions get out of sync in first place and why I can't re-synch no matter what.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Kindly check here to know what Chromecast device you’re using. If it’s a non-Google TV version, then it’s doing its job by casting the content/app. Could you check if it happens when casting apps from your phone (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, etc.)? Your Chromecast device is intended to cast a content/app. But files/data related to the content/app such as subtitles, dubbing, etc., are not something the Chromecast device has full control over. Here are things that you can try:
