Hi Kim37strand,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Chromecast. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: What type of Chromecast device do you have? Are you setting up your Chromecast? If yes, what exact message are you getting during setup? What's the LED light status in your Chromecast (Solid or blinking white light)? What mobile phone are you using?

Try these steps:

  1. Reboot your Chromecast, mobile phone, and Wi-Fi router.
  2. Adjust the settings of the setup device.
    a. Android devices: Turn on Location Services. If the same issue occurs, turn off the screen overlay (only for Android 6.0 and above).
    b. iOS devices: Turn on Bluetooth and Local Network Access for the Google Home app.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  4. Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone’s Settings > Open WiFi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set up again.
  5. Try a different mobile device.
  6. Factory reset your Chromecast.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
