Connection issues with iPhone 12 and Google Chromecast not seeing it

LaraArden

Hello, I’ve successful got Google chromecast on the tv connecting with a Nokia G10 phone for casting tv shows. But when I disable that, and try to get tv to connect iPhone, it won’t see it. It sees Living Room TV.v network on Google Home app on my iPhone. But it won’t connect, and so I can’t watch tv from iPhone. Any suggestions?

Thanks for checking back. Sadly no. But what will solve the problem, is what I learned today, speaking to another guy. He said if my Android phone can be put into the account with the same mobile data provider as my iPhone, then I’ll be able to share my data between the 2 devices. This will leave me free to use the Android device with Google Chromecast (which works), and my iPhone can stay out of the picture. Hooray! Thank you though, for your support. It led me to success. Thank you 😊

Are you using Wi-Fi or hotspot?

I'm using hotspot

Ok, go to hotspot settings while it is on, and flip the “maximize compatibility” setting.   I have this same problem, it is because of the 5g chip in the newer phones, hope this help

Thank you, although the "maximise compatibility" setting was and is always left on. Any other suggestions?

Yes, turn that settings off

I honestly can’t remember if it has to be on or off for connection to non 5g devices, but i do know that it is typically the problem, i have a roku, chrome cast, and Nintendo switch that will not connect to my hotspot unless it is on the right setting, and my iPad that has 5g chip it doesn’t matter

Thank you for your kind responses. I’ve also heard that casting it from your iPhone first, before connecting the tv’s network to the hotspot, sometimes helps. It only works for that user 50% of the time. He said my problem, is a common one, when trying to get two incompatible iOS devices to connect. Oh well. Thanks anyways. Stay well.
