Display not Working

Kagiro

Out of nowhere my new Chromecast started acting glitchy. My phone can connect to it and my TV can recognize it, but the display keeps going in and out. The casted screen will blip sometimes and then they'll be no signal.

Device is basically new and I have not this issue before. Even tried resetting it but no dice.

I have been experiencing same issue across multiple speakers/ displays. Those connected to WIFI more then Google TV which is connected to ethernet cable.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A few questions: What Chromecast device are you using? Is this only happening in one app or across all apps? Also, is this how you perform the reset?

Give the steps below a try and let me know how it goes:

  • Plug your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  • Reboot your TV and Wi-Fi router.
  • Reboot your phone and Chromecast device.
  • Test it on another TV to isolate it.

Thanks,

Kimy

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's some sort of display issue as the screen keeps cutting in and out and then loses signal.

I tried all the things you mentioned above and even changed out the usb wire. But nothing seemed to work. I have the newest edition of the Chromecast (4K, with Google TV). But when I plugged in my old Chromecast it seems to work just fine.

Hi there,

@TerryP1963, I’m glad that it has been sorted out. Could you tell me the exact message from the HBO Max app? If it pertains more to the app (account, server, etc.), then you may need to coordinate with them.

@Kagiro, thanks for the details. This is more on HDMI communication between the TV and the Chromecast device. Did it persist on another TV as you tried?

I look forward to your responses.

Kimy

Sorry for the delay!

Unfortunately it's doing the same thing on a different TV. It starts to boot up fine, and you see the connect screen, but the display keeps cutting out with green lines. My old Chromecast works fine on both TV's (and to be honest connects faster too!)

What ever the issue was last week, seems to have corrected itself. I believe it was something Google's side as I did not make any changes.

Only issue now is casting HBOMax to the display. All other apps seem to be working but get an error with that one. Not sure how to fix that one or who to raise compliant. Is it on MAx's side or Google
