Hi horvokki,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. I checked mine and couldn’t find it either. I suggest you send feedback via Google TV settings. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page for any updates. Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

Kinda eats me, CcwGTV 4K provides languages spoken less than Finnish but not Finnish anymore. I don’t mind but the lady of the house can Finnish only. And that gets to me. I’m now acting as a dedicated remote control user.

Hi horvokki,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Try to look for Suomi language and check if this will work for you.

Regards,

Juni

No, Suomi is also not present. Nor Finska (this would be Suomi/Finnish in Swedish …).

Hi horvokki,

I’m sorry that you feel that way. Have you sent feedback already? I strongly suggest that you send one and detail your request. It’s not guaranteed to be implemented, but Google values customer feedback. Most of the improvements are based on customer requests. Let us know if you still have questions.

Cheers,

Kimy

2-4251000034096 - that’s the case reference number. They have confirmed that Finnish is missing, but I haven’t heard from them in a month.

Finnish was there but went missing after factory reset. I’m now using a MI Stick …

Hello horvokki,

I’ve checked with the support team about the case ID you shared. It seems like you’ve been informed about the changes that happened. At this point, we have no estimated time frame for that being reinstated. The best thing to do now is to send feedback and indicate your request. Again, there’s no guarantee that it will be reinstated, but with the number of users requesting this, let’s hope Google will reconsider. After all, Google always listens to customers needs.

Thanks,

Kimy

Right. The dealer that sold me the unit caved in and replaced my non-Finnish understanding unit with a brands new one.

When I was setting it up Cadt wanted to know the language. I chose Finnish - from obvious reasons.  The I continued the process with my iPhone using Google Home app (read the QR code and so on) everything (like setting up the network) went smoothly in Finnish until I reached a screen saying ”Choose language” and ”The language of the phone is Finnish but Chromecast does not support it currently. Please, choose another language”

I immediately stopped using  Google Home for this initial installation and continued with Ccast. Had to press <- to interrupt and then continued the setup with the remote. And note: everything on TV screen had been in Finnish all the time. Also everything in Google Home app on my iPhone.

And as a result I do now have a Ccast w/GTV 4K setup in Finnish.

An interesting detail is that the culprit seems to be the Google Home app. That - again - is in Finnish on my iPhone, but through that app you can’t set the unit up in Finnish.

Hi there,

We hear you. It’s not the Google Home App. The Chromecast device itself has no Finnish language. The Google Home App is used for setting up different Google products and devices, and some of these devices or services may have the Finnish language, which is why you saw it. But still, the same Google Home App is used for setting up devices and services that don't support certain languages (including your Chromecast device). We will take this as feedback to improve our devices and services.

Thanks,

Kimy

How can you say that Chromecast has no Finnish? I have now two of those, in perfect Finnish. They need to be installed/set up  in a proper way, not according to instructions given by Google Home.

This bothers me a bit. In the initial setup menu it has Finnish (when pairing the remote) but as soon as I get to the language setting menu Finnish is not on the list anymore.

I tried to change language of Chromecast to English for one profile and now evey profile is in English.

And the kids profile isn't working anymore I just get "Something isn't right" notification on the kids profile...

I can't change the language back to Finnish either and seems I'll have to try a factory reset next... What a load of crap...

And I have now reset the device and there was no option to choose Finnish as the installation language...

Try not to use Google Home for setup, use remote controller only. That *might* work.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the late reply. Kindly check if you already received the late August to early September update. It includes patch fixes for most of the recognized bugs. If not, try to do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset and setting it up from scratch. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Last time I did a factory reset I lost Finnish language altogether. Can you guarantee that this will not happen this time?

Hi horvokki,

Thanks for the reply. Did you have a chance to get it working? If it’s working, there’s no need to take action anymore. But if you’re still experiencing issues, try my suggestions above. I look forward to your response.

Best,

Kimy

If you’re saying that in order to make sure that the possible latest update is working you say I need to fact reset the unit - well, can’t do that, bc I will lose Finnish language. If you claim that fact reset is needed for all CCWGTV users after update you also are saying that all users will lose Finnish language!

Is this right?

Hello horvokki,

What I’m suggesting is to check if you already have the update (which should be) for the late August to early September patch. To check for software updates:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select About.
  4. Select System Update.

If you haven’t received it yet, then try a factory reset, which might force the update to come directly from the source server to your device. I hope this clarifies the confusion. Let us know how it goes.

Sincerely,

Kimy
