Gboard stopped switching back to previous language after UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172 update

After updating to build UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172(Chromecast with Google TV 4K), Gboard stopped switching back to the previously used language.
For example, I have two languages configured — Gboard switches only once, and then stays stuck in the second language.

Additionally, voice typing now works only in English, although before the update it supported my other languages as well.

Both features were working perfectly before the latest update. Please advise if this is a bug or if any settings have changed.

Thank you.

For everyone experiencing the same issue:

The easiest temporary solution is to roll back Gboard to the factory version:

  1. Go to Google Play, search for Gboard.

  2. Tap “Uninstall” — this will remove only the updates (not the app itself).

  3. Then turn off auto-updates, otherwise the broken version will reinstall.

How long will Android 14 issues be ignored? We’re already two updates in, and the problems still haven’t been resolved. These issues didn’t exist on Android 12.

I’ve been checking this website every day for about two months, and none of the issues have been resolved. It’s incredibly frustrating to see critical bugs persist across multiple updates with no official acknowledgment or fix.

Sure, we can downgrade Gboard - but we can’t downgrade Android.

If updates break core functionality(like 264 codec, interlaced video, issues with dv switching mode, usb media issues), users should have the option to roll back to a stable version. Bugs happen — but not giving users a way to fix them is unacceptable.

Hi tsoltan,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand your Gboard is no longer automatically switching back to your previous language, and voice typing now works only in English language since updating your Chromecast with Google TV 4K to build UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172. It’s my pleasure to assist you with this.

Based on the information you’ve provided, I recommend you trying the following troubleshooting steps:

1.  Sign out your account and use another temporary account:

    • To Sign out your account:
      1. At the top right of the TV screen, select your profile, then All settings.
      2. Open Accounts & Sign In and select the Google Account you want to remove.
      3. Select Remove, then Remove account.
    • To add your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) to another account:
      1. From the Google TV home screen, go to your profile picture.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Choose Account
      4. Then Add another account.

After performing these steps, please verify if the issue persists when using your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) with the temporary account. If the inconvenience continues or you're unable to sign out of the account, proceed to the next step.

2,  Reboot your Chromecast with Google TV (4K):

  1. Unplug the USB-C connection from your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) to disconnect it from the power source.
  2. Leave the device unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.
  3. Check if the inconvenience was resolved, if not, continue to the next step.

3.  Adjust Language Settings in the Google Home App:

  • Temporarily set to English:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap the Devices tab, then tap your Chromecast with Google TV (4K).
    3. Tap Settings at the top right.
    4. Tap Device information, then tap Language.
    5. Choose English
  • Change back to your preferred  language:

    • After testing with English, repeat steps 1-4 and change the language back to your preferred setting.

4.  Adjust Google Assistant Language on the device:

    1. Change the language of the Google Assistant on the device itself. To learn more, you can consult this Google Nest Help Center article: Change the language of Google Assistant
    2. Revert the Assistant language back to your preferred setting and then perform a reboot of your Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna

I did factory reset after the  UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172 - like you guys are suggesting in other topics, so all options are not relevant.
