Hi everyone,
I would like to use Google Photos with my Chromecast (2nd Gen) to show jpg(!) images like the one attached. However, they screen is always black with these images.
* They are jpg format and all that is "special", from my point of view, is rather high resolution (6000x4000).
* They are rendered nicely in my Google Photos App, Web Browser or many other image viewer, I tested under Windows.
* I have tested three different TVs and all show the same issue.
* Many other images types, even Apples .heic, are rendered nicely on my Chromecast.
* It's definitely an issue with Chromecast and these images.
Does anyone know what I can do?
Regards,
Tommy

Hi tomwaitforitmy,
Thank you for posting in the community. I apologize for the trouble you're having casting your Google Photos to your Chromecast (2nd Gen). I understand how frustrating it is to see a black screen, and I appreciate the effort to troubleshoot the situation. I'm here to help.
Here are some steps you can try:
Note: When you unplug the Chromecast from the TV’s HDMI port, it doesn't reboot the device. It must be disconnected from the power source in order to reboot.
Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.
Regards,
Byron

Hi @ByronP ,
thanks for your answer. My chromecast is plugged off every day. I double-checked the firmware. According to docs it is the newest version. Here you find a screenshot of my Google home app. What else could I try?

Thomas

Thanks @ByronP for the suggestion. Sadly, the reset didn’t help either. Nothing changed after that.
When testing a bit more, I realised that some images of my camera work, but most of them stay black. Let me know if you could use further sample images.

Thomas

@ByronPThere is no Chromecast in the form you provided. What exactly do I submit feedback on? Did you try casting my image provided with another Chromecast?
