Google Chromecast and Bose smart Soundbar900 interface

Hi,

Greetings to All,

I have a Google Chrome cast(3rd Gen) external device connected to one of the HDMI ports to my TV.

I have recently added Bose Smart Sound Bar 900 built-in Chromecast to my Google Home app account.

Issues:

I have created a device group for my External chrome cast and Bose speaker, device group name was not appearing on my Android device and iPhone 15 ProMax.

Then I tried to cast from my laptop in Google Chrome, The group name appeared while casting, but after casting only audio was shared to the Bose sound bar, and on the TV side it showed "Chrome Audio Mirroring".

Question:

How to cast both video to my TV(external Google Chromecast) and Audio to my external speaker?

Why Group name was not appearing on my Android and iPhone devices?

Hi Yuva,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The speaker group works for audio and music-related platforms only. Apps such as Spotify, YouTube Music, etc. can be cast or played via voice command (on Google Assistant devices). The Chromecast device, despite being intended to play both audio and video platforms such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, etc., will still play audio and music-related apps as it is counted as one of the speakers. But if you cast or play movies or videos on the Chromecast device and wanted the audio or sound to come out of the other speakers in that group, unfortunately, that's not how it works. You can’t cast an audio and video media app to a speaker group, which is why it’s not appearing as an option. I hope this clarifies the confusion about how the speaker group works.

Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks,

Kimy
