Google Home remote failure with iPhone app

OK, I see a lot of people seem to have the same problem, but I exhausted all the suggestions and function was never restored. For a brief period of time it actually worked as advertised, but now I get the suggestion that my version is not up-to-date. However when I check the display says that my chromecast software is latest. So, I deleted and reloaded the app, per suggestion. No help. iPhone 14 Pro with chromecast 4K hooked to Samsung TV. “Full remote unavailable, make sure your streaming device has latest software”   When one hits the “Learn More” highlighted text nothing happens.  So, latest versions, many reboots, reloads, device is recognized, no full function.

Hi Charlieromeomik,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. To cover all the bases, could you try the additional steps below?

  • Toggle off Local Network Access for Google Home app.
  • Uninstall the Google Home app.
  • Reboot your mobile phone.
  • Reinstall the Google Home app
  • Notice if prompted to turn on or re-enable Local Network Access.
  • Try to download and install Google TV: Watch movies & TV then test the virtual remote from within this app.
  • Factory reset your device.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
