Recently, I purchased the Google TV streamer, mainly to manage my 8-year-old’s screen time. After linking my child’s account through the Google Family Link app, I found several frustrating limitations:
1. Screen time can only be set directly on the Google TV streamer device, and you cannot customise screen time limits by day of the week (e.g., Monday: 2 hours; Tuesday: 1.5 hours; Wed–Fri: 3 hours; Sat–Sun: 4 hours).
2. You cannot adjust or control screen time through the Google Family Link app.
3. There is no option to manually lock your child’s profile in Google TV using the Family Link app.
4. You cannot set individual app time limits for apps on Google TV.
I strongly urge Google to add these parental-control features to the Google TV streamer. At this stage, if you are purchasing the device primarily for parental controls, I would not recommend it.
