So I do have a few follow up questions and actions to try. Can you let us know your region, the type of content, resolution and were you casting to the device or watching natively? That info is all helpful. Can you also check and if necessary update the YouTube app and the Google Home app.
Can you also check your connection? Wifi or etherent and if you are able you can test ethernet to rule out any wifi connection issues. Here's a help page that has some extra tips about network and the Google Streamer. There's a suggestion on that page to check your router's firmware as well.
Factory reset to the device may also help. That will ensure all the latest device firmware update is applied.
