Google Streamer 4k, When turning TV off device will turn TV back on

Hello,

I have the Google Streamer 4k and there is a major issues.

When playing content I like to set the TV's sleep mode and have the TV turn off, With my Old chromecast devices this would pause the current playback and the TV would stay off. With the streamer device the TV will turn off only for the streamer to turn it back on in 10 seconds continuing playback. This is not expected behavior.

The expectation is that the Streamer see's the CEC device off message and loss of HDMI on the TV side and pause the current playback.

I have reset the Google Streamer 4k several times and this behavior does not stop.

As for CEC disabling it is not a valid options as this would prevent things like volume control and turning the TV on when a new cast session starts. To be clear the old Chromecast would pause when the TV is off and only turn the TV back on when a device connects to the Chromecast. The Streamer does not follow this behavior.

System Firmware UTTK.250305.003 (No updates to system avalible)

Cast Firmware 3.72.446070

Connected by ethernet as wifi is not stable on this device.

Hi @nightred,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) not pausing playback and turning the TV back on after you've turned it off. I appreciate you letting me know that your old Chromecast works correctly and what troubleshooting you've already tried. I understand how frustrating this must be. Don't worry, help is here.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • What is the make and model of your TV?
  • Have you tried different HDMIs in the TV?
  • Have you tried to plug in the Google TV Streamer (4K) on another TV and check if the issue persists?

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards.

Derick.
