Google TV Streamer (4K) Remote Volume CEC Controls not working with Samsung TV

Hi,

I just upgraded from a Chromecast with Google TV (4k) to a new Google TV Streamer (4k) and the CEC volume control for my Samsung TV is not working. 

Issue Summary: After upgrading from a Chromecast with Google TV (4K) to a Google TV Streamer (4K), the CEC volume control for a Samsung TV stopped working. The power and input selection controls via CEC and IR work fine, but the volume control fails to be set up properly. The setup wizard on the Google TV Streamer remote goes into an endless loop, asking to toggle the volume buttons but not recognizing them, despite the IR functionality working for power control.

Steps Taken:

  • Rebooted Samsung TV, but issue persists.
  • Verified that CEC and IR work for TV power and input selection.
  • Used the older Chromecast with Google TV to verify that CEC volume control works with its remote.
  • Attempted to set up the Google TV Streamer remote via the setup wizard, but the volume control setup failed.

Additional Information:

  • The issue appears to be specific to the Google TV Streamer (4K), as volume control works with the older Chromecast with Google TV remote.
  • Suspected issue with the recent January update to the audio CEC control for TVs.

Expected Behavior: The volume control should work properly via CEC as it did on the previous Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

  • Are you getting any error messages when trying to set up the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote? If so, could you please provide me with the error you are getting?
  • Has this issue been present since the initial setup of your Google TV Streamer?
  • Are your Samsung TV and Google TV Streamer up to date?
