Google TV Streamer + ARC + SONOS Beam - keep losing sound and need to restart Google TV Streamer

I have been running my Chromecast with Google TV (4K) with my SONOS Beam over ARC for years with no issues.

However, starting in the past month or so (sometime in November 2024?), I keep losing sound to the SONOS from the Google TV Streamer and need to restart the Google TV Streamer.

NOTE: This has never happened during playback of media; just when I attempt to start watching something.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

There was this post that looks to be same issue, however, there was no resolution and the post was closed (seems like a short inactivity period to be closed, so now we end up with duplicate posts):

Hi realrob,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry that your Google TV Streamer (4K) is experiencing troubles using your ARC and Sonos Beam that keep losing audio. I understand how frustrating this can be. Let’s work together for a solution.

For further assistance, I need to ask a few questions:

  • How do you connect your devices?
  • Is your Google TV Streamer (4K) and Sonos Beam connected directly to your ARC?
  • Have you tried to switch the Google TV Streamer (4K) and the Sonos Beam directly to your TV without the ARC?

Please keep me posted. I’ll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

@ByronP - My Sonos Beam is connected to my TV's via ARC-compatible HDMI cable from the Sonos, into my TV's ARC HDMI port, The Google TV Streamer is connected via HDMI into a non-ARC port on my TV - this is how my Chromecast with Google TV (4K) was set up for years.

When I recently got the Google TV Streamer, I simply connected it into the same HDMI port that the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) was connected to.

Hi realrob,

Thank you for your response.

Based on your answers.

Have you tried to connect your Sonos Beam and the Google TV Streamer directly to your TV, not the ARC?

Keep me posted.

I want to use ARC, as I did with my previous Chromecast. I give up. Just close this ticket. I have more important and valuable things in life to deal with than Google stuff that is subpar.
