Google TV Streamer loses ethernet/wi-fi connection after 3 hours of use

Recently purchased a new 4K streamer . We have experienced both the wi-fi and ethernet connection dropping out after approximately 3 hours of use. I have to unplug and reconnect the ethernet connection or reset the wi-fi to regain connection.  I have read on this forum of a similar situation where the streamer is coming out of standby mode but my situation is strictly during actual use.  However, I suspect this is due to the same issue as those with the standby mode situation and how it relates to the IEEE802 green power settings in various devices, WAP and network switches.  The solution is the same disconnect/reconnect the streamer from my network switch and all is well.

Hi @jakewa3,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! I understand that you are experiencing connection issues with your Google TV Streamer 4K, even though it is connected via Ethernet cable. Thanks for sharing the workaround you found, but let's work together to find a permanent resolution!

Before we move forward, I need a little more information to help you best:

  • Is there any light on your device? If so, what is the color and status (solid or pulsing)?
  • Can you currently see your device in the Google Home app?
  • Is the Google Home app fully up to date?
  • Where are you seeing the device as "offline"—on the TV screen or in the app?
  • What is the firmware version of your device?
  • Is it connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network?

Once you provide this information, I will be more than happy to assist you!

Best regards,

Debora

The light is on solid and green.

Device is visible in the home app

All of of my products are up to date. Streamer updated to the latest firmware when it was initially set up and powered on a week or so ago.

I have never checked to see if the streamer is visible as offline.

The first time it happened it was on the 5 Ghz network.  I then moved it to a wired setup and it happened 3 more times.

Unfortunately for you, I returned the product and am presently running a Firestick Max with no issues on the same network, no changes to have it work properly.
