Google TV, no cast icon. It looks like Google TV is correctly installed

Google TV, no cast icon shown in Chrome. It looks like Google TV is correctly installed, because VideoLan VLC-player shows Chromecast HD available and I can use it. There is no Cast icon in the left panel (in panel with three dots).

The question is: How to get Cast icon to Chrome?

I did reset to Chrome TV and installed it again. The same result: can not cast from Chrome but I can cast from VideoLan VLC-player.

Hi Escom,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Based on your description, it seems that your Chromecast device is working as intended. The changes to the Chrome browser’s interface cause some of the users some challenges in casting. You can find the cast icon in the same drop-down menu under Save and Share, and you’ll find the cast icon at the bottom.

I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Thanka. I already downgraded Chrome. In latest Chrome version: Can  you  set The Cast button to show permanently in toolbar, Always show icon?

Hello Escom,

Thanks for the reply. You can, but it’s a little bit tricky. Try this:

  1. As soon as you click Cast under Save and Share, the message box will pop out, and it’s looking for devices.
  2. From there, you’ll see the cast icon itself aligned with the 3 dots (upper right).
  3. Right-click the cast icon and put a check on the "Always show icon".

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other concerns.

Cheers,

Kimy
