Google TV not using 5.1 dolbly digital all the time

I have a google TV streamer that is 2 months old connected directly into my new Denon AVR-S570BT. The reciever is connected to a BenQ projector. Sometimes when I play content that supports 5.1 Dolbly Digital + it does not send it to the reciever and instead sends a stereo single.

This often happens in google tv apps like netflix, paramount plus and apple TV. I find it does it when I am resuming shows previously started. I have tried moving the auto settings on Google streamer from auto to checking all the codex types my reciever can handle. I have also tried turning off and on the reciever and force stopping the apps. The only thing that fixes it is restarting the google streamer. Then the content will reconnect into DD+.

It is frustrating to have to double check everything i watch something to make sure it is using the correct audio and if it isn't- then have to restart the google streamer.

You can force it to output to DD+ all the time in the audio menu. Your options there should be Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, PCM Stereo or Auto. I find when on auto that it gets stuck outputting everything in PCM Stereo. Until they fix or add a pass through option the audio remains a complete mess on this device.
