Why does the streamer revert to HDR 10 plus instead of Dolby vision as my TV is high spec and has Dolby vision the only way is to force Dolby vision in settings it won't auto switch to Dolby vision

Hi Robo73,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Google TV Streamer that is reverting to HDR 10 Plus instead of Dolby Vision. I appreciate the information provided. Don't worry; help is here.
Here are some things that you have to take into consideration:

  • Content Information: Some content includes both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ data. Streaming services (like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, etc.) vary in how they deliver HDR content, and the device or service might prioritize HDR10+.

  • Connection Communication: Sometimes, the way the Google TV Streamer and your TV "talk" to each other through the HDMI cable might need a slight adjustment. This communication helps them decide the best picture format.

  • Software Enhancements: Our ongoing software updates continually optimize HDR format selection.

The great news is their Google TV Streamer and TV fully support Dolby Vision, which is why forcing the setting works perfectly. This confirms their high-quality setup is completely capable!
To help ensure the best experience, please try these steps:

  • Update Software: Ensure their Google TV Streamer's software is fully updated.

  • Optimize HDMI: Confirm they're using a high-quality, certified HDMI 2.1 cable in an HDMI 2.1 port on their TV.

  • Quick Refresh: Suggest a full power cycle (unplugging all devices for a few minutes).

  • Explore Content: Ask if this happens with all Dolby Vision content or specific titles.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,
Jenny
