HDMI CEC broken on CC TV HD

Since roughly 2 weeks, HDMI CEC does not work anymore. No more volume change, no more on/off command is on my Marante AVR. I tried to reset Chromecast and AVR firmware, tried Chromecast on another TV with no result. CEC doesn't work anymore, even if enabled in the settings. What can I do?

Hi identifiant,

Thanks for reaching out to our community. I can see that you're having trouble with the HDMI CEC features on your Chromecast with Google TV (HD), which are affecting how it communicates with your TV and Marante AVR. I understand this is not the kind of experience you expect to have. I appreciate the troubleshooting efforts you have already tried to resolve the inconvenience, as this is very helpful. Don’t worry, help is here.

Please answer the following questions to help us figure this out:

  • Can the remote control the Chromecast interface?
  • Is your AVR connected to the HDMI (ARC or eARC) port of your TV?
  • Is the Chromecast connected to the TV set or to the Marante AVR?
  • Could you please describe how you performed the Chromecast reset?
  • I understand that you have already updated the Chromecast firmware version. Could you please let me know what the Chromecast firmware version is? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • What is the behavior of the IR (infrared) light on the remote control when you try to use the volume button or try to turn on or off your devices?

In the meantime, please check the following conditions that are required to enable the HDMI-CEC option for your devices:

  1. Verify that the CEC option is enabled on your Marante AVR.
  2. Check in your Chromecast settings that the HDMI CEC option is enabled:
    • Turn on your Chromecast.
    • At the top right of the TV screen, select your profile, then tap Settings.
    • Select Display & Sounds.
    • Enable HDMI CEC.
  3. Make sure to enable HDMI CEC on your TV set. CEC is often turned off by default. Typically, you can turn on CEC in the TV’s settings. The location of CEC settings varies depending on the TV.
  4. Ensure your TV's firmware is updated by checking the TV user manual. You may also contact your TV manufacturer to verify.
  5. Check the Chromecast settings for the remote buttons:
    • Turn on your Chromecast.
    • At the top right of the TV screen, select your profile, then tap Settings.
    • Select Remotes & Accessories
    • Then tap Set up remote buttons.
    • Select your TV set
    • Choose Set up buttons
    • Then reconfigure the controls for Volume, Power, or Input.

Check if the issue is resolved. If not, continue with the following steps:

  1. Switch the streaming device to a different HDMI port.
  2. Reboot your devices simultaneously:
    • Unplug the TV set, your Chromecast, and your Marante AVR.
    • Wait for 10 minutes, then plug them back in.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
