Hi,
Thanks for you're reply.
I have the problem resolved.
In the menu settings in Google Streamer.
I need to go to my remote settings.
There I need to chance te setting volume up/down from auto to Google streamer.
I think there is a problem with HDMI CEC with google Streamer and device TV.

Test with old Google tv same HDMI port same settings the sound works.
It's the google streamer that is the issue.

Hi Martijn1985,
Thank you for posting in the Community.
I'm sorry to hear that your TV speakers stop working when you enable HDMI-CEC. However, they work fine when you disable it.
I'd be happy to help you with this issue. To provide more specific assistance, could you please tell me the make and model of your TV?
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Virna

I have the same issue with my Google Streamer and a Hisense TV. I have to disable HDMI-CEC to get any audio over HDMI. Following a device restart I hear one or two systems sounds when I navigate in the menu and then audio stops being output. I have tried two different Hisense TVs and both experience the issue. Neither TV experiences audio issues with the previous gen Chromecast with Google TV, with HDMI-CEC enabled.

See my answer to fix this.
Go to device remote settings ( Google streamer).
Set volume up/down from auto to Google Streamer.
HDMI CEC on both devices ( Streamer and Hisense tv).

Hi @virnab,
Changing the volume button to IR or Google Streamer seems to work with HDMI-CEC enabled, so it's a workaround. It would be great to have support for volume control using CEC. Hopefully this is a bug that will get picked up and fixed.
Thanks all for the help.

Having the same problem with no sound on the new streamer. Tried 3 different HDMI cables to no effect. No problems with my Google TV chromecast HD which had the inbuilt cable. Was considering buying the 2.1 Google cable they're selling for $20 from the google store but will give this a try first. Annoying to not get an HDMI when they are so expensive compared to the previous versions.
