HELP : Chromecast Google TV doesn't send signals to Denon AVR X1600H DAB

My Chromecasts (both HD and 4K) doesn't send signal to the Denon AVR X1600H DAB. There's always the "No Signal" message on the tv screen (which is connected to the AVR). On the I tried different ways below.

  • Re-initialized the AVR as well as updated the latest firmware
  • Tested multiple hdmi cables & ports available on the AVR but still nothing works.
  • Tested the old Chromecast 2nd gen => It worked perfectly and the Denon AVR sent the signal to the tv.
  • Plugged both the 2 Google TV Chromecasts (HD & 4K) directly to a samsung TV and they worked perfectly well
  • Other devices such as bluray, tv box & ps4 connected to the Denon AVR (via different ports) are still working fine
  • Already checked the 4K signaling format on the Denon AVR which is set up "Standard"

Why doesn't the Google TV chromecast send any signal to the Denon AVR? Each time I switch off the chromecast then turn it on, only Google logo is displayed on the monitor screen then "no signal" message apprears. It seems like the chromecast stops sending signal to the AVR right in the launching phase.

Please help me

Hi @denonavr1234,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand the issue you are having with your Chromecast with Google TV and your Denon AVR. I see you've already done so much thorough troubleshooting. You've correctly identified that the problem seems to be a specific compatibility issue between these two devices, as your other devices are working fine.

Based on the symptoms you've described—where the Google logo appears briefly before the "No Signal" message—it sounds like an HDMI handshake issue. This can happen when the Chromecast and the AVR are having trouble communicating about the video signal, even if both devices are working on their own.

Since you've already confirmed that the Chromecast works when plugged directly into the TV, the best way to get this resolved is to adjust the video settings on the Chromecast itself.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Temporarily Connect to the TV: Plug your Chromecast with Google TV directly into an HDMI port on your Samsung TV.
  2. Adjust Video Settings: On your TV screen, navigate through the Chromecast settings. Go to Settings > Display & Sound > Resolution and change the setting from "Automatic" to a fixed resolution, such as 1080p.
  3. Reconnect to the AVR: Once the change has been made, unplug the Chromecast from the TV and plug it back into an HDMI port on your Denon AVR.

By setting a fixed resolution, you can often bypass the handshake issue that occurs during the initial startup. If this resolves the "no signal" message, you can try changing the resolution to 4K on the Chromecast to see if a higher-quality signal is stable.

I hope this helps you get your system working as it should. Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Kevin
