Help from GoogleNestTeam

Hi Google Nest Team,

I (among others) recently purchased a google TV streamer which advertised its compatibility with a number of apps on the box. This included the Foxtel App (pay TV in Australia).

While many people have raised tickets with foxtel and found that the app does not support android 14 - there has been no information from foxtel as to the progress of their update.

While I appreciate that the developers need to fix the issue - Google are somewhat complicit by falsely advertising the compatibility of this app (among others) that are not compatible with android 14. As such it would be appreciated if Google were able to reach out to the developers  and perhaps provide an update for its users?

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi anthk1973,

Thanks for your comment. I understand that you're still experiencing inconvenience with the Foxtel app and other apps. No worries, I'm here to help!

Please let me know which other apps you're having compatibility problems with.

I recommend checking for updates if you have not checked. Please follow these steps to update your device:

  1. Go to the home screen of your streaming device.
  2. Select All settings > System > About > System update.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

This is the only app I have issues with. I believe that the Binge and Kayo apps also had a similar issue when the streamer was released but have been updated.

I have just done an update on the streamer (UTT3.240625.001.K9) and re-installed the "Foxtel" app (no update - version 1.7.0). The issue is still there.

The issue is that the Foxtel app returns an error (AF4013) due to the streamer being android 14 and the app only supports android 12 - despite the fact that the advertising and packaging for the streamer in Australia clearly states compatibility with Foxtel.

I have logged a support ticket with Foxtel and they indicated that they are working on an update but cannot say when it would be ready. I believe that Google also has some responsibility in ensuring a timely response from Foxtel. I am at a complete loss as to how Google allowed the packaging to be approved without witnessing the app working on there device.

I would appreciate it if Google could get a specific release date from Foxtel OR advertise in media and to all local retailers that the streamer does not support the Foxtel App as it is against advertising laws in Australia.

Thanks,

Anthony
