Hotel problems

HI ! I can’t connect to my chrome cast in my hotel room! I need to log into the network but I just keep getting “can’t connect to wifi” there is no option to log in or automatically pop up window to log in to the network please help

Hi Robertppp,

Chromecasts are designed to be used on private secure home WiFi networks and don't function on captive portal systems that require a username and password to be entered.

If this was possible then everyone else on the same network might also be able to see what you are casting and control the device.

Some users have reported successfully using travel routers or shared their connection from either a computer or mobile device.

Robertppp, I agree with Cathal_S. Authentication pages, also known as captive portals are currently not supported by Chromecast. 

 

You can attempt to set up your Chromecast device using a captive portal if you are able to add the MAC address directly to the router. In most cases, you will need permission from the network administrator. However, please take note that this workaround may or may not work. You can also try the recommendations provided by Cathal_S.
