I got my Chromecast 2nd gen to work after factory reset

Was getting frustrated with no Google help so did a check on Reddit.

This post gave me something to try Link to Reddit article 

I set the date on my android pixel 8 pro to the 1st of march.

Then opened the HOME app and chose ADD device.

It then got past the normal 'dont recognise device' error and asked if code on screen was the same. It was 

Clicked OK and it started to update.

Rebooted and update installed.

Device now linked in HOME and able to cast again.

Same thing worked for me - Reset date on my iPhone back to March 2 and set up the chromecast again after a factory reset. After connecting, the chromecast did an update and I was able to move the date on my iPhone back to the current date.
