I've tried everything to set-up my Chromecast; no avail.

I'm not completely sure what generation my Chromecast is; it's a round flat disc with a cord coming out of it, and a power input on the other side.

I've connected the chromecast to my phone, all the way to the point of connecting to my Wi-Fi; It then tells me some variation of "Cannot communicate with your Chromecast, make sure it is nearby and that you connect to it when prompted", "Couldn'tconnect Chromecast to Wi-Fi, check your input", etc. I'm obviously connected otherwise, or else I wouldn't be at that step; it refuses to connect. I've reset the TV it's plugged into, the phone, the Chromecast itself, and the Wi-Fi modem and router; still nothing. Even though I'm doing setup so factory reset is redundant, I've factory reset the Chromecast, too; still nothing. I looked online, finding no solution, nothing even remotely helpful. Why does it not want to connect? Please help if you can; I don't know what to do.

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that you are having pairing issues with your Chromecast. I'll be more than happy to assist you with. Before I start with the troubleshooting, I will need some information to identify the issue: 

 

  1. Is the Chromecast showing some light when it fails to connect? 
  2. Is the Chromecast connected to a wall outlet or connected to the TV?
  3. Are you using an Android phone, or is it iOS?
