Issues with Chromecast 2nd Gen

Dear all, 

I am facing issues while trying to casting from my mobile phone to chromecast 2nd gen. Just nothing happens when I try to cast as no connection seems to be established. Tried various apps (Disney+, Netflix and Youtube) and I also performed a factory reset and tried to connect anew unsuccessfully. 

It reminds me of the issue that all users faced about 3 months ago with their Chromecast 2nd gen devices when the certificate expired

Thanks for your post on the community! I understand that you're experiencing some issues when you try to cast from your Chromecast 2nd gen because it seems to not establish a connection. I appreciate that you shared with me the troubleshooting steps you've performed! The issue is as concerning as the one from 3 months ago, but no worries help is here.

Before we move forward, I need some information about this case:

  • Could you please tell me the make and model of your mobile phone, along with its operating system version?
  • Do you know the firmware version currently installed on your Chromecast 2nd gen? 
  • Have you tried casting from any other devices in your home (e.g., another phone, tablet, or computer) to see if the issue persists? This helps us determine if it's specific to your primary mobile phone.
  • When you attempt to cast from an app, does the cast icon appear at all?
  • If the cast icon does appear, and you tap it, does your Chromecast 2nd gen show up in the list of available devices?
  • If it appears and you select it, what happens next? Does it display a "Connecting..." message indefinitely, or does it immediately fail with an error?
