My chromecast 3rd gen is not working, while booting shows chromecast word then disapears

Hi,

I need advice to help me solve this issue.

My 3rd gen chromecast was working normally. Suddenly, it disconnected, while trying to restart it,  while booting it shows chromecast word with loading dots, then disapears leaving no signal on TV.

I tried to test its components; the head, the usb cable, and the power adaptor using another 3rd gen working chromecast. It appears that power adaptor and cable are working properly, the problem is in the device itself. Factory reset and resting power for minutes didn't work.

You help is apreciated!!

Same issue here.

Tried restarting TV and Chromecast.

Connected to different port

Connected to different TV

Changed wifi channel

Even washed the HDMI tail of the Chromecast

But, no luck. I hope the next version of the firmware might fix it. But god knows if Google still supports Chromecast3

Hey there TharwatOkab,

I'm really sorry to hear that your Chromecast is giving you such a headache. These kinds of issues can be hard to resolve on your own, so I'd be happy to help out. First, when the TV goes black, what color is the LED light on the Chromecast? If the Chromecast is throwing any kind of error, it would show here. After we know what error is occurring, if any, we can try some specific troubleshooting.

For now, give the steps that j2o tried a go, and see if they help you at all.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thanks Jeran for the response. Actually I'm out of town now, once I'm back within 2 days I'll try to figure if it is sending any error code, and will tell you.

Thanks for the help

Yeah Jeran, I need to ask a question.

Is there a way to upgrade SW for the chromecast or a step to know wether whether it is a SW issue or a HW one?

Hiya TharwatOkab,

With your 3rd Generation Chromecast, the update is done automatically as part of the setup, so you don't need to do anything. What I would recommend is to check the LED light on the Chromecast device itself. Depending on the LED state, it can point to different errors. For example, if the light is solid orange, There may be an error with your device. Unplug your Chromecast from the power source, wait about one minute, and then plug it back in. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, perform a factory reset.

I hope that helps, let me know if you had any other questions!

Best regards,
Jeran
