Hi. I just bought a new ONN 4K streaming device and the plan was to use it with my mobile hot spot since I’m in the process of moving and don’t want to sign up for internet service for just a week or two. It’s a new 4K unit, the tv is a New high end LG and the phone is a new IPhone 15 plus max with unlimited hot spot. I’m sitting literally 5 feet away from the ONN box with my phone and for some reason it won’t connect. Spent 2 plus hours doing everything possible to get it to connect after downloading a fresh version of the google home app and -nothing. Anyone have any ideas on what might be the issue?? This is really an inconvenience because I went out and bought this for this specific purpose. Oh…. I have an old fire stick that connects to the hot spot perfectly. Come on google really??
Thanks in advance for any help you could provide.

Check these points first:
1️⃣Check these points first:
1️⃣ Hotspot password
Confirm that the password you entered is correct. Deleting and re-entering it prevents typing errors.
2️⃣ Hotspot frequency type
Many ONN devices only work well with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
If your phone is broadcasting the hotspot on 5GHz, switch to 2.4GHz.
On Android:
Settings > Connections > Portable Wi-Fi Router > AP Band → choose 2.4GHz.
---
✅ Other important checks:
3️⃣ Hotspot connection limit
Some phones limit the number of connected devices (sometimes only 1 or 2). Increase this limit.
4️⃣ Check for MAC address blocking
Some phones prevent unknown devices from connecting. Check the hotspot settings.
5️⃣ Check if the ONN is up to date
Try connecting the ONN to another network just to check for available updates.
---
🔄 Quick solution to test:
1. Restart the phone (hotspot) and the ONN.
2. Reconfigure the hotspot manually.
3. Try renaming the hotspot (SSID) and changing the password. (Strange names or symbols may cause an error on the ONN.)
---
❗ Technical details to consider:
Possible problem Solution
Hidden hotspot: Make the SSID visible
Hotspot security: Prefer WPA2-Personal
Conflicting IP: Try enabling DHCP on the ONN, not a fixed IP
Airplane mode enabled: Confirm that the ONN is not in airplane mode
If nothing works:
Test connecting the ONN to another cell phone with a hotspot.
Test another device by trying to connect to the same hotspot (to see if the problem is the cell phone or the ONN).
Check for device blocking on the cell phone's router. Hotspot password:
