Hello, I have the Google Chromecast from 2015 and I use Google Home on a cell phone to operate it. I would also like to control the volume of my Pioneer receiver with it. This also works but not in Dolby Surround. If I go to Chromecast under Settings / Remote control & accessories / Set up remote control and set the volume control to “Chromecast”, I can adjust the volume with the remote control. But under Settings / Display & sound / Advanced sound settings, the format is changed to “Do not use surround sound”. Why is that? Who can help me ?

Hi NightmanII,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear your Chromecast is having problems with the Dolby sound with the volume control. I'm happy to assist you right now.
I recommend checking the sound formats on the Chromecast settings; you can follow the steps to adjust your advanced sound settings:
For more information, you can check this article Sound Settings for Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer.
The answer to your question, "Do not use surround sound," is to select stereo audio rather than surround sound, which means that only the front left and right speakers will be producing sound instead of using additional speakers positioned around the listener to produce a more immersive, "surrounded" audio experience.
Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.
Regards,
Gabriela
