Pairing Bose SoundBar to remote factory resets Bose

Thewookiewon

Kind of resurrecting this old thread as I've just encountered this issue linking my new Google TV Stream remote to my Bose SoundBar ultra

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Streaming/Adding-Bose-Soundbar-remote-crashed-bose-and-remove...

When I go through the process of cycling remote command inputs, the second attempt triggers my bose to factory reset itself.

I have no ghost entries on my Google home and really don't want to delete and rebuild my home.

I've solved my issue, I'm not sure which of the two listed below methods actually fixed it but hope it helps others.

1. Updated the Google TV Streamer to latest version (UTT3.240625.001.K9)

2. Disabled Chromecast built-in from the bose app. (My soundbar > Settings > Chromecast built-in).

I then proceeded to remove the SoundBar from the Google remote (Settings > remote and accessories > Setup remote buttons) and added it again, think I got to either 4/5 of 8 before it was able to control my bose sound with the buttons.

I then enabled Chromecast built-in from the bose app. (My soundbar > Settings > Chromecast built-in).

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing with your Google TV Stream remote control and your soundbar. I understand that you are trying to pair your remote with your Bose sound bar, but during the process it gets factory reset by itself. No worries, help is here.

In order to provide you with the correct information, I need some extra information. Here are some questions for you:

  • What is your Bose soundbar's model?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already followed?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Do you see any light on your remote control?

In the meantime, you can try the next steps:

  1. Set up the Bose soundbar on its app.
  2. Link the Google Home app and the Bose app following the next:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Go to devices.
    3. Hit on Add.
    4. Select the option “Works with Google Home” and look for the Bose app and follow the instructions.
  3. Restart the remote control.
    1. Remove the voice remote batteries for at least 10 seconds and make sure you are using 1.5V AAA batteries.
  4. Try one more time to pair the control with your soundbar.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hello

Answers to the questions below;

What is your Bose soundbar's model?

882963-4100 or known as Bose smart ultra soundbar

What troubleshooting steps have you already followed?

Tried several times, Bose is factory reset as the bug so that's another thing done 🤣

When did the issue start?

Since the day Google TV stream was delivered.

Do you see any light on your remote control?

Bose SoundBar shows an LED for each remote click attempt before showing a full solid white LED and starts factory testing itself.

Hi Thewookiewon,

Thank you for providing the information Guarcax requested. It's very helpful to understand your experience with the Google TV Stream remote control and the Bose smart ultra soundbar.

With this information, I can recommend the following steps:

  1. Remove the Google Home App from your mobile device.
  2. Reinstall the Google Home App on your mobile device.
  3. Unlink devices:
  • Make sure that your Bose smart ultra soundbar is powered on.
  • Open the Google Home app
  • Tap Settings Works with Google
  • Under Linked services, tap the Bose smart ultra soundbar, then select Unlink account.
  • Tap Unlink to confirm your choice.

4.  Link devices:

  • Open the Google Home app
  • Tap Devices Add Works with Google Home .
  • Select the Bose smart ultra soundbar from the list.
  • To complete the setup, follow the in-app steps.

5.  Pair and connect the Bluetooth soundbar and Google Chromecast Streamer 4K.  Complete these steps if it's the first time you're connecting your soundbar to your Chromecast Streamer 4K.

  • Turn on your Bluetooth soundbar and make sure it's in pairing mode. Press the pairing button on your Bluetooth soundbar, if possible.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Make sure you're in the right home.
  • Tap and hold your Chromecast Streamer 4K.
  • At the top right, tap Settings, then the option: Audio.
    • If this is your first time to use Bluetooth on this device, tap Paired Bluetooth devices, then Enable pairing mode, then go back to Audio.
  • Tap Default music soundbar, then Pair Bluetooth soundbar. Your Chromecast Streamer 4K will then scan for Bluetooth devices.
  • Tap the Bluetooth soundbar once it appears on the screen, then Done.
  • Your Bluetooth soundbar will now pair with your Chromecast Streamer 4K.

Once your Bluetooth soundbar is paired and connected to your Chromecast Streamer 4K, use basic and advanced music commands to listen to music and playlists.

To play media on multiple speakers at the same time, you can create a speaker group. To include a Bluetooth speaker, add its paired Google Nest or Home device to the group.

Note: You may need to adjust for the playback delay that can happen when you use a Bluetooth device. Learn how to correct group playback delay.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna

I am experiencing the exact same issue with my TV Stream remote and my Bose 550 sound bar. It is incredibly frustrating. I just upgraded from my Chromecast and I never had any issues using that remote with this sound bar.

I'm sorry to hear that you're also facing difficulties with your Google TV Streamer remote and Bose 550 soundbar. I recommend trying the troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

Please let me know if these instructions helped you. If you still need assistance, don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Virna

I have tried those steps and the issue still remains.

I can control the sound from my LG remote without it performing a reset so this issue is exclusively A Google problem
