Wednesday
I have two TVs. The castingn on one works perfectly with my Pixel 9. The other with an HDMI Chromecast will not connect to my Pixel.
All seems well. Home on the thePixel 9 shows the Chromecast, but says will not connect.
I have been through every option given in the standard help - rebooted, factory resets, deleted and re-installed Home, and yes, the Chrosmecast and Pixel are on the same wi-fi SSID.
Any ideas why the Chromecast appears in Home but then says "canot conect"?

I've made progress.
1. Despite the device having Google logos and Chromecast on the packaging, it is not a Google product.
2. It requires Miracast, which is not supported by recent Pixel / Android phones, despite saying more recent than Android 9 is needed.
3. The Device Utiltiy which used to be used for setting up Chromecast is now obsolete and not compatible with the latest Pixel phones. Google Home stops at "Chromecast found. It needs to be activated before setup". The activation procedure given is not compatible with a Google Pixel 9. I was therefore unable to set up my older Chromecast, which otherwise is fine.
4. I am looking at buying a device from the Google store, but I'm concerned they will be just as awkward or even impossible to set up.
I wish Google would sort this.

I've resolved the issue.
I found an old LG6 phone with Android 9. I installed Google Home and there was everything. The Chromecast was set up exactly as it should. And my Google Pixel 9 now casts to the TV beautifully.
So the the real issue is that the newer versions of Google Pixel phones phones with Android 15 are just wholly incompatible. So all this nonsense about factory and router resets is just that - nonsense. Get a phone with Android 9.
