Problems with my chromecast

My chromecast kicks us off for no reason. Do I need to update it or does it do it automatically?

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear about that. Let's sort this out.

 

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What's the LED status on your Chromecast? Also, when you say it kick you off, does this mean the TV stops playing content (casting) unexpectedly?

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Reboot your Chromecast, Wi-Fi router, and casting device ( mobile phone, tablet, laptop/computer).
  2. Plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  3. If one is available, please plug it into a different TV screen.
  4. Factory reset your Chromecast.

With regards to software updates of the device, this is done automatically as part of the setup, so you don't need to do anything. Learn more here.
