Same, I’m on MAC and it can’t find the device???

Same here in Venezuela. I was lay down in my bed, try to put something in YouTube and I saw a message with says untrusted firmware, can't use the commands via the Home app, restart the Chromecast to factory settings and the device can't be authenticated. I am not going to buy a new one if that is what Google wants... I just going to buy a Roku or another thing.

Same. None of the chromecast I have work. I even reset one and now couldn’t even get it to set up anymore

Same issue. Couldn't cast.

I'm having the same issue

It also did the same thing to Chromecast Audio.

I tried to message support and get a call back. The chat site is a 404 error and they did call me back only to say there was no one available to take my call.

Same issue 2nd Gen Chromecast

Same as everyone else. Has Google acknowledged the issue or made an announcement yet? Seems like a certificate expired.

I have a few second gen and one third gen Chromecast neither one will authenticate due to Firmware issues please reply to let me know what is going on and how this issue can be resolved

Me, too. C'mon Google. Please do better.

Same here!

Identical issue here too. Factory reset and setup finds the Chromecast but won't authenticate.

Just chiming in to say I have the same issue with my chrome cast not connecting due to a firmware trust issue. Worked fine yesterday.

My phone is Google pixel, using Google fi wireless, Google fiber and my wifi is the Google branded device. Literally everything that could possibly matter (and many that don't) is from Google.  Ridiculous it doesn't work.

I'm getting the same thing. I've factory reset many times. Deleted the old device to add a new. When trying to add a new device it keeps saying it can't authenticate my Chromecast. Chromecast 2nd generation.

Same problem, but in Australia. And it's not because of the cyclone, either.

I think you have to replace it with Google TV streamer now. I did a Google search and it appears Chromecast has been replaced so we can't get firmware updates.

It is happening to me as well

Same issue in New Zealand, have not found a fix, did all the above mentioned

Same problem

I am facing the Same issue since yesterday. I tried to reset and reboot multiple times. But, No support.

Same here.

Singapore 😭

Same here!

Same here, right now. I have 2 chromecasts, only in the oldest model I get that legend (maybe 10 years old), I've done all the steps suggested more than 20 times and I still get the same warning. I see that we all have this problem today. Has anyone had a solution from Google? 😞

Yesterday, Sunday, I encountered this problem after performing a factory reset, as it said that the device was not trustworthy, obviously something went wrong and millions of us are affected.

Same issue. I hope you can fix this google

Same issue here in philippines

Same issue. Looking at the timestamps, this looks like a widespread Chromecast issue.

What is going on? Was the issue resolved on your side? We need the chromecast connected back again, my kids really need it.

Hey @JillG any word on what the deal is? Not something I would want to deal with in the future buying Google products, we're getting close to the 24 hr mark and still nothing from Google??

This is what mine is saying

Same issue for India, my 2nd gen chromecast stopped working over night. It says chromecast could not be authenticated

Kein vetrauenswündiges Gerät
.. konnte nicht überprüft werden.
Möglicherweise ist die Firmware des Geräts veraltet.

Same here Digital Dictatorship, to force you to buy new hardware.

same issue in NZ. Elon Musk breaking this also.

Bastards!!! Same thing here. They update Google home and don't make it backwards compatible with the older chromecast. Bastards!!

same here from the Philippines. "Can't authenticate your chromecast" keeps on showin up. I thought it was some bug or something. So I tried to reset and set up again, now I can't even watch and proceed finishing the setup.

Same for me, worked yesterday morning but not last night. Tried everything I can think of.

Has anyone resolved it yet?
