I have the same error message appear on 4 of my 5 Chromecast devices. I even tried factory resetting 1 of them, but during the process, it said something like, "can not connect to your Chromecast". These 4 non-working Chromecast devices worked fine until yesterday, 3/9/25. I have a screenshot of the error message, but don't see any way to post it to this message.

Ohio here
Have the same issue.
Tried resetting it, didn't help. Saying it can't authenticate.
03-10-2025 12:17 AM
Me too, both Chromecast and my Chromecast audio and a Google nest screen as well.
03-10-2025 12:30 AM
Same issue as described,
ROKU / fire stick or other alternatives are looking more and more attractive given the recent flakey behaviour and increasingly annoying ads inserted everywhere with the price and size of new devices on a par with apple who don't have ads everywhere!
Google are going down hill fast.....

Mi associo a queste segnalazioni dall'italia. Da ieri non funzionano più tutti i chromecast!! Fate qualcosa per favore!
03-10-2025 12:39 AM
Yes! So glad I found this post. We are in Australia and suddenly none of the TV's or devices will work either on Apple or Android. Because we aren't in the US I didn't think about the daylight savings change. Anyone find a fix yet? 😞
03-10-2025 12:40 AM
Same problem from yesterday 9th March I'm facing. May be firmware outdated. After resetting device still showing "we couldn't authenticate your chromcast.
03-10-2025 12:42 AM
And my device is a NC2-6A5
03-10-2025 01:00 AM
Same here Chromecast worked earlier now I can't get it to connect and getting message like everyone else"can't authenticate" Google. what's up ? It stinks that you have no human customer support number to call as I have had issues with several things by Google and only thing offered is AI and this chat site

03-10-2025 01:19 AM
I am in u.k same problem I try everything still don't wrk
03-10-2025 01:40 AM
during the phonecall, the team did recognise there was a world wide problem. And this was reported in the global media this morning. There is no fix yet. And its not clear if there will be a fix.
03-10-2025 01:44 AM
I'm so mad 😡
This isn't the first time. I found a post about this same issue from 2023. The solution was to use Google TV to update the chrome cast but I don't have a Google TV.
03-10-2025 01:50 AM
Same problem. Woke up to find my device (chromecast) no longer a trusted device?? Reset it but now Google Home App can't authenticate it???
What is going on with Google device support? Why all the changes without warning or notice or ability to opt out / over-ride
03-10-2025 02:10 AM
I am facing the same issue.
03-10-2025 02:24 AM
Same error to me as well, we couldn't authenticate.
03-10-2025 02:25 AM
Same in Melbourne

I am facing the same error from Pakistan
03-10-2025 02:30 AM
I have the same issue. Yesterday suddenly youtube showed an authentication issue when i tried to cast my phone to my chromecast 4800. After that the chromecast couldn't be found at my network anymore. Finally applied a factory reset to my chromecast, but setting up through my Home app results in the 'We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast", while the chromecast can be seen on my network. I have an generation 1 chromecast also on the same network, this one is still functioning without problems. Anybody a clue?

I have 3 Chromecast devices and they all became untrusted suddenly. I rest them, removed them from Google home, disconnected everything from Google home, but nothing can seem to work! Chromecast devices are functional, displaying hour, tv code, but they can't connect.
03-10-2025 02:37 AM
Yip. Looks like Google has 'bricked' the second gen Chromecast. Gone burger. RIP.
03-10-2025 03:06 AM
I am also getting the same issue.. I tried to factory rest the device and now I am not able to connect with my chrome cast.
So disappointed
03-10-2025 03:11 AM
Same here. I've done a factory reset and it says it can't authenticate. There is something up with google😭
03-10-2025 03:12 AM
Adding to this. Please fix this issue.

Bonjour,
03-10-2025 03:36 AM
Same issue here on 2 out of 3 gen 2 devices.
03-10-2025 03:48 AM
Facing same issue, Chromecast casting stopped and stating ChromeCast (old model) has an untrusted firmware.
Please provide the solution for this .
03-10-2025 03:49 AM
Yes lar......... we are not alone. My location is in Singapore, have the same problem few hours ago.

El mismo problema me esta pasando
03-10-2025 04:10 AM
Same is happening to me
03-10-2025 04:20 AM
Same.
03-10-2025 04:23 AM
Same issue in Australia, all resets tried. Gen 2. Seems likely that its a firmware update issue.
03-10-2025 04:27 AM
I had the same problem yesterday evening, UK time.
My photo frame stopped. I tried resetting it to add it to Home again and, ever since, I get some strange authentication error on the Home App and it that doesn't allow me to register it again.
Have they killed the Chromecast remotely?
03-10-2025 04:28 AM
Yesterday I was able to cast my phone and phone apps on my non android TV through the chromecast i purchased in 2016. But from today onwards I am unable to cast any app on my TV. Getting the same untrusted firmware/outdated firmware error. By what time will this be resolved .????
03-10-2025 04:31 AM
