Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

imposta una data antecedente al 8 marzo sul cellulare dove hai installato google home e riassocia la chromecast. vedrai che funziona l'associazione. per il ripristino dello streaming dobbiamo antedere google.

Change date on your phone to 7 of March, then you can set up you chromecast and wait for an update, worked for me🙂

Even a simple "still working on it, no further updates" would be highly appreciated. 

I'd like to be kept in the loop with a regular update, even if nothing has happened yet - feels like you care

I have said this before, but despite your decision to fix this issue, it's really important for Google to understand the scope of influence the group of people have who use devices like CCA. This group, most of whom are active Redditors, are the people helping people with technology and their decisions to invest in it. Don't underestimate us. CCA is one of my personal favorite devices ever made, and has been a major reason to further invest into Google's ecosystem. I will not stay without it.

Ya to late .. already factory reset mine... I mean that's how most of us fix connection issues with the Chromecast so that was our first thought was to factory reset... so many people have done this. Hopefully we can fix this.

Hopefully a reply here as soon as its fixed so people know when it's able to be used again. Most of us paying for subscriptions on apps we cannot use. So frustrating.

Normally when something doesn't work, you have to try several things and eventually you can try a factory reset. And then this time, the advice is to NOT do the factory reset... POOF too late... Hope the solution to that one will be easy and sufficient.

Hi, I have thus chrome home for 5 years but yesterday suddenly found the chromecasting not working I tried to switch off and on that it's says we couldn't authenticates your chromecasting, but I don't know really what to do?

I also factory reset but you can get the device back on your WiFi (at which point it will eventually receive the update) by changing the date of the phone or device your using to connect to the Chromecast to the 8th March or earlier. Then go through the set up as directed on the screen 

Try to update your device date to 1st March 2025 and then connect chromecast to get updated.it will be working after taking time to update.

I JUST FACTORY RESET IT. HOW I SET DEVICE BACK? WHERE IS THE INSTRUCIONS?

Per rpima cosa devi riassociare il dispositivo all'app google home: per farlo devi impostare una data antecedente all'8 marzo sul dispositivo e poi puoi associare nuovamente la chromecast all'app google home.

Fatto questo dobbiamo aspettare tutti l'aggiornamento da parte di google per ripristinare lo streaming verso il dispositivo.

Então nada mais justo q vcs arrumarem o q causou o problema pq eu uso o chromecast como ferramenta de trabalho, estou 2 dias sem conseguir apresentar trabalhos devido este problema e já reinicie mais de 50 vezes , espero q vcs se organizem e tragam a solução o mais rápido possível

Da ieri sera Chromecast non si collega più e non di riesce più a configurare,home trova il dispositivo ma non riesce ad autenticarlo.

Anch'io ho il solito problema. Da ieri sera ha smesso di funzionare.  Ho provato più volte a riconfigurarlo, lo riconosce ma poi esce"impossibile autenticare il dispositivo"

Ho lo stesso problema. Si verifica solo sulla seconda generazione di Chromecast. Sulla prima versione tutto ok.

O meu tmb está do mesmo jeito des de ontem a noite n está conectando
