Well said!

It cost 35 bucks and it came out a decade ago. I'm not into the planned obsolescence and disposable nature of most things today but the expectations on this are really out of skew with reality..

I would agew if Google made a next generation Chromecast audio. But nooooo...

Exatamente isso!!!

You make a good point

Hello, this story already happened in 2010 with the Logitech Revue. It lasted about as long as an egg in a washing machine. Their first Google TV platform was pathetic. So much so that the company lost millions of dollars because of this poor program. The device was a marvel of engineering. It improved slightly with its first update. But by then, the project was doomed. Just like today, the devices couldn't connect to the Logitech server and are a pile of electronic junk.

What are you smoking, man?

The part that many of you don't understand about technology is that security can only apply for so long on a product. If you have a cell phone that is 5 years or older, that is just a security risk for the user and the company. Years ago products could last a long time because there was no connecting them to the internet. Since these devices are now connected to the internet, they need to be updated regularly or else "bad guys" will try and hack them. So, you can only protect devices for so long and then it becomes not cost effective anymore and so that is why we need to upgrade. But I do feel that a computer, webcam etc. should last 5-7 years and they should be supported for at least that amount of time.

So I see google are at it again
yet another dodgy “update” to a product set that has just been superseded.
don’t hold your breath on any issue getting resolved by google in any hurry.
the last time they broke the chromecast with google tv it took them over a year to fix it.
the issues they had with the second gen Google wifi were never resolved after 3 years and their only solution was to replace it with the new pro model. They were half right, replacing it did resolve the issues but it wasn’t with their product
same with their original nest cameras, numerous issues none were ever resolved and again their solution was to replace them with the new model. Again they were half right. Replaced with a different brand, cheaper price, better quality, no ridiculously priced subscription
Googles arrogance is only matched by Apple. And no that is not meant as a compliment
my advice is if there is a product from anyone else that does the job go with it rather than google products
they won’t be getting anymore of my money
03-17-2025 12:48 AM
Google no doubt has other scams in-store for users of its products

I would give away anything to have a normal life. It's very easy to make comments and give opinions without actually have any idea of what your talking about, especially when you don't walk in someone else's shoes. "BE BETTER "

You must be new to Google! Welcome.
03-13-2025 02:07 AM
Hahahaha buuuuuuurrrrnnn
03-13-2025 02:10 AM
Hahaha, that’s gotta burn
03-13-2025 02:02 PM
How about a bunch of chromecast built in products that can no longer be used by Google apps but with other apps?
03-13-2025 05:47 PM
5 days isn't temporary!
This shouldn't have happened in the first place.
The Google Nest folks were sleeping at the helm.
Shame on them !
03-14-2025 09:16 AM
Lol It is a LOT more than one temporary issue with one temporary product. I just moved a perfectly attuned Google Home setup with about 14 devices (incl. smart bulbs) to a new home, and it's been an absolute nightmare. Unacceptable. The newest Chromecasts that require login to the device are cumbersome trash.
03-14-2025 09:56 AM
lol who are you and why are you defending them

Broken nose much??
03-12-2025 04:10 PM
It cost like $35 and it came out a decade ago. Why be so dramatical? I'm shocked they still even service it on their end...lol.
Did you expect that little plastic disc to work for 25 years? I know ive already gotten the value for the amount of money I paid for mine and then some.

This kind of attitude is exactly Why companies can keep treating their customers like **bleep**.
03-13-2025 05:18 PM
Well, I know americans live in their own bubble, but sometimes you could TRY to imagine others reality? MAYBE it costed a lot more in other countries? And will cost almost a month salary in other countries to buy another stuff OR 5 months salary to buy another TV?
03-13-2025 05:49 PM
Go buy us all new one Guy..
Maybe Google will give you a discount 😂
03-17-2025 12:56 AM
I hope Google tells me when they will shut down the Google phones and tv's
03-17-2025 12:53 AM
A plastic disc failure is understandable but thousands of plastic disks failing on the same day is not ok
03-16-2025 07:25 PM
I fixed that. Switched to Hubbl

I have been looking for a solution "Chromast Audio", but not for iPhone, but for Android. All I can find on foreign websites is an alternative for Airplay, and I am afraid that won't work in an evironment Window laptop, netword, Android phone. Any advise? Would appreciate it.

Wiim Pro. Available on Amazon but isn't cheap. I have not used it but it has good reviews.

I just bought a WiiM Pro. Gives all the functionality of a Chromecast Audio and more. They're a little pricey, but not so bad when you consider that it's high-quality audio gear, and offers more functionality than the original Chromecast Audio does.
I listen to streamed music every day on my Chromecast Audio. Folks are saying that this is a difficult situation for Google to resolve, and it will take them from a week to a month to resolve.
I'm just not willing to wait that long, and don't want to put my future listening pleasure in the hands of Google, who couldn't even make sure their certificates remain current...
03-12-2025 12:05 PM
Look at the Wiim product line. The product works very well as a repacement for Chromecast Audio
03-12-2025 04:58 PM
If you're just casting ripped CDs or similar, try VLC. It's working for me. I think it simply doesn't bother checking the devices certificate.

Xiaomi TV box streaming sound, it has sound jack and hdmi output.

The solution is iEast Olio :
It's cheaper than Wiim Pro...
I've been quitting most Google's services during last years... Seems it's Chromecast Audio time, now...
03-13-2025 05:07 AM
Hello
That's only for audio?
Not for streaming video like disney+?

I bought a Roku streaming stick today. Super easy to set up, already much easier than Chromecast. Can highly recommend.

Their approach and the poor communication is not going to encourage loyalty
03-12-2025 10:42 AM
For real, I got an email about it just today after it has been days. I had to find news articles that were based off reddit posts to know what was happening.
The handling of this has been pretty poor. It's pretty disappointing.
03-11-2025 12:34 PM
If this is their way of doing that, they certainly ensured that I won’t.
Just the fact that it has so far taken at least 2 days since the problem occurred certainly doesn’t inspire confidence.
If I have to change a piece of hardware that worked perfectly well just a few days ago for no other reason than them not providing a firmware that’s life proof for the hardware then I will find another solution than going with them again.
I’m also on the cusp of getting a new smartphone and Google is a possible contender, this certainly doesn’t speak in the favor of choosing a Google phone either..
