Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

From yesteday I have the same problem with my Chromecast rev. 2, I cannot authenticate it with Google home, it is founded. I have resetted it to the fab settings. It shows on TV the message to use G. Home for configure it but G. Home see it on the Wifi network but at the end gives error that cannot authenticate it.

Please let me know ASAP how to solve this error.

Chromecast cuando vuelven a funcionar los que fueron reseteados de fábrica tras la falla??

El mio no fue receteado y sigue sin funcionar! Dijeron q para esos ya estaba solucionado y q gradualmente iban a llegar las nuevas actualizaciones. Pero para los reseteados aun no hay solución y dudo mucho q lo haya seguro fue una estrategia para ir quitando estos dispositivos del hogar y q compremos nuevos

Hola yo compré hoy un chromecast de 2da generación y lo tuve q resetear obligado porq tenía los datos del antiguo dueño, y ahora no me anda desde Google dicen q no había q resetear por el problema pero si o si tenía q hacerlo 

como soluciono este problema?

Hola estoy en el mismo caso que el tuyo yo uso 3 cromc uno anda pero resetee otros dos porque losmaravillas estos no avisaron nada,espero que lo solucionen

How about you exchange 2nd and 3rd gen chromecasts for a new one for half price. You can't just hide without helping your customers. Regards, a very dissatisfied chromecast user

Hace 5 dias que los clientes que confiamos en GOOGLE como empresa fuimos estafados con el problema del Chromecast. Siguen sin dar solución, ni respuestas, ni nada. Ameritan una demanda judicial global en  contra de la empresa Google que se traduzca en una fuerte multa y caída del valor de las acciones. Ni siquiera dan respuesta a los clientes. Google NUNCA MAS !!! 

Efectivamente, ya con estos plazos y sin explicaciones detalladas sabiendo que entre sus usuarios hay entendidos se puede calificar como estafa, o rozando la estafa, lo primero es la transparencia y no la tienen.

Hola realmente es una verguenza

,en mi caso uso 3 dispositivos,para hogar y para el trabajo,uno de los cuales lo reinicie pq los genios de google no lo dijeron a primeras instancias,ahora que se hagan responsables del daño causado,mas alla de que bien agarran las ganancias cuando los compramos.

If Google’s intentions is to force us to buy their newest products, just come out and say it!!!!

Stop dragging this s*** out!!! 

And If I’m spending money I didn’t intend to spend on a new device, it’s gonna be Amazon fire Tv!! 

“Google” come out and say it!!! No amount I reverse psychology will convince us that it’s a glitch. We know the agreement expired! 

I think that we will never get a fix. As you said we'll need to buy something else but it won't be from google anymore, that's for sure ...
