Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Thank you I've 3 Chromecast audios in my home it was a joy this morning one works the other one that was connected the same as the one that works doesn't.
Sadly I removed the third one off the Google home app and now it won't come back although it's connecting to my internet. Shame this headache still goes on.
Still I'll count my blessings out of three one works Yeee Haaa!

No Solution yet for those who have factory reset ? ( Which this this action proposed when you have connection pb , so i m sur most of yhe chromecast owner have done it....)

I fixed it by charging Date on my tablet.
Date 8march.
Add device in home app.
When the add process started and stopped.
Then I manually connected to cast device wifi, and restarted the add process.
Needed to do this 2 step, since wifi does not allow internet connection with faked Date...

If you change your phone date and time to when your chrome casts last worked then go on google home and re add your chrome casts, follow the set up on your device , then it will be ready for googles update, it worked for me

What does “connected” mean when you say “your device must be connected”?
Connected to your phone? Wifi? Google Home?
Part of the issue is that in Home, my devices say they’re not connected.

Ja precies, dat bedoel ik ook. Ze waren veel te laat met de waarschuwing om niet naar fabrieksinstellingen te zetten, ik heb het ook gedaan en ik ben bang dat dit niet meer op te lossen is. Heb gisteren maar iets nieuws gekocht, komt vanmiddag binnen en kan ik het installeren.

I fixed my reset with:
chansen Date on my android tablet to match 8.
Adderad new device via home app.
When it stopped!
I connected to Chrome device wifi, and startade a new add process.
Incorrect Date on device, as a wifi problem where bypassed without problem.
Status. Device configured, and I'm back with certificate problem, but cast devise connected to wifi, as if I had not performed a reset!
Might work for other!

About the factory reset..................when the chromacast is'nt working you follow some steps and one of them is the factory reset. We all were'nt aware that it was a greater issue this time and it would'nt work. Most of us , maybe all, did the factory reset. The warning not doing it came much too late

On day 1, I was too lazy to reset my devise and checked online if there was an issue. Well done me !! hopefully my “could not be bothered” attitude saved my two fav devises. Chromecast and chromecast audio.
Loved seeing googlenest post a message today about a fix being. Music to my ears. (Ever hopeful)
However, after 4 days of getting messages to just only check my internet connection, Tonight, I have the same message everyone else had about an untrusted certificate. Weird that I get this message when the fix is being sent out . I know we are at times behind in Australia but geez I miss being able to cast shows and movies and music.
Perhaps it is time to watch those dvds I have been meaning to watch.
At least my DVD player still functions after 18 years.

Complimenti al team per la tempestività con cui sta lavorando per risolvere il problema. Facendo parte di coloro che hanno ripristinato le condizioni di fabbrica della Chromecast di seconda generazione, della quale non si riesce a portare a buon fine la riconfigurazione, confido in una soluzione in tempi rapidi che ci consenta di rimettere in funzione il dispositivo.
