Now my Chromecasts are online in the Home app again (went offline 9th of March). Still can't cast to them!?
I can tell my Google Assistant on other devices to turn the TVs on and off so they are indeed online and connected.

"It has been nearly a week since the issue occurred, and we have yet to receive any updates. This lack of communication is unacceptable, especially since we still do not have an estimated resolution date. We require immediate clarification on the status of the issue and a concrete timeline for resolution."

I did a factory restart before reading this post as that is part of the normal troubleshooting process.
Can you please confirm what I am supposed to do now to get this to work?
Shame on Google, this is effecting so many users and its very concerning it is taking this long for a solution.

Just set your phone back prior to March 8, you'll have to go into settings and manually set the date prior to this past Sunday, then go into Google home and reset up the Chromecast device and once the Chromecast device is connected to the Internet at that point you can go ahead and put the date back current on your phone. Now if you just unplug your Chromecast device and plug it back in it should reboot and will likely take the update to fix it.

I can't believe that Google hasn't pinned this information to the top of this page, for all the thousands of folks who have done a factory reset.
In any case, it's an easy fix. Just do this:
https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Streaming/Regarding-an-issue-with-Chromecast-2nd-gen-and-Chro
03-14-2025 10:36 AM
If you already reset the device and can not set up the Chromecast, just change your mobile phone date a year back (24) and then art up the device with Google home
03-14-2025 10:40 AM
Yes!! It's finally working. I followed the instructions of changing your phone 1 day before the problem started. So I set my date to March 8th on the phone and then opened the Google home app. Followed the instructions and started to update. After the setup it started to cast again. Make sure to set your date back to automatic on your phone after setting up. Thank you to all the people on this forum for your help. And thank you Google for the updates. Take care everyone

Es viernes 2.38 pm en Argentina, aún no puedo usar mi Chromecast 2, pese a leer que han resuelto el tema. No reinicié dispositivo
03-14-2025 10:44 AM
Supposedly this is being done as a phased rollout, so it could be several days before the firmware update fix hits everyone's Chromecast. Patience.
03-14-2025 10:50 AM
Hola!! Yo soy de Argentina y acabo de enchufar mi chromecast y ya se actualizo y funciona!!! Yo no lo habia reiniciado.
03-14-2025 10:49 AM

Set your phone's date manually before march 9th and re install your chromecast.
03-14-2025 10:53 AM
Just set your date on your phone to something like March 7, 2025 you'll have to do it manually then use Google home to set up the device again it will connect to your Wi-Fi once it's connected to your Wi-Fi go ahead and unplug your Chromecast device and plug it back in it'll reboot and it should update.
Don't forget to set your phone back to current date.
