Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

If we do factory reset, someone in the community mentioned what to do, here is what I followed the same and got success. Change in your settings , auto date off, change date to Mar 1st and then add chromecast device to Home app, it should work and doesn't give the error "we couldn'tauthenticateyour chromecast device." Once device is connected then with in few minutes i see chromecast updated and its back to working. Yay

El que restaursate tenes que hacer

1. Cambiar la fecha a tu movil.

2. Configuarr desde Google home , una vez actualizado

3. Vuelves a cambiar la fecha a la actual y listo puedes volver a transmitir. A mi me funcionó . Suerte

Entendi,mas quando tento usar o dispositivo é pedido para que seja configurado,sigo todos os passos,mas no momento que pede a senha do wi-fi da senha incorreta,mas a senha está correta. Então o que faço?

O meu continua dizendo que não foi possível estabelecer a comunicação entre o Chromecast e o meu dispositivo.  Desde segunda que não consigo 

If you have done a factory reset and it is not working. Then take a device on which you set the date back a year. Try to connect the chromecast. It will connect, you can setup your network. It will get the Google updates and you are back on line. Set the time back to normal on the device you used to do the setup.

My Chromecast received an update just now and it started working again! Thank you GoogleNestTeam!

Great, the two Chromecast Audio devices i did not factory reset are back online; however, the one that I did reset still cannot be connected to by Home. Hopefully that issue will be figured out soonish.

There are some people saying that changing date on the phone and reinstalling the app the problem will be solved ¿ how do you change that on an iPhone??

hay veces que en algunos iphone no te deja cambiar la hora de manera manual. busca un dispositivo android y ahi si vuelve hacer la instalacion. suerte.

I have 3 Chromecast (2nd Gen): 1 video and 2 audio, they have been fixed now. Back to normal !

J'ai 3 Chromecasts de 2ème génération: 1 video et 2 audios, ils ont été réparés. Tout marche !

Tengo 3 Chromecast de segunda generación: 1 video y 2 audio, arreglados ahora. Todo funciona !

I have 2 CCAs and a CC. One of the CCAs started working. Probably got the fix/patch/whatever. Athens-Greece. There is hope ppl

Now I can't mirror my cellphone screen anymore.... it was working before the bug

No point fixing one thing and not the other.

 

Olá, espero que esse problema se resolva logo, pois o certo seria se o Google tivesse nos notificados, entretanto só fui saber pois fui pesquisar alguma forma de atualizar meu Chromecast

I factory reset before i knew of this problem.  Please fix soon

I factory reset one of the CC and that one is working, the other was not factory reset and still not working (it say can not see the CC on the network) ?

Hello….Thank for cc 2gen fix but for cc 1gen nothing more?

Pra quem redefiniu, mudar a data do seu celular pra configurar resolve o erro. O meu até pediu atualização logo depois. Falta só eles consertarem a transmissão 

you guys are sloooooooooooooowwwwww. I reset device and when setting up, it says it’s connected to the network, then it says it can’t communicate with my device.  I tried iPhone and iPad. Same result. Also, tried connecting to my office and home networks.  It’s college basketball playoffs.  Cmon guys.  I want to watch in my den on the big tv.

Just reverse the date of ur phone 10 days and setup the device again this will work
