Chromecast Gen 2 is now working again in Denmark. Due to a factory reset, I had to set the date on my iPhone back to March 7, reinsert the Chromecast, and the update started. It is now working flawlessly.

I was able to reset and am waiting to know when I will be a le to cast from my smart Android phone Moto g play to my TV so I can continue watching my shows from YouTube app. As I just paid for a subscription for premium and now it seems to be a waste of my money.  So please let me know when I will be able to use my cast. Thank you so much for all.

Si pudiste configurar tu Chrome entra a la pantalla y busca arriba donde dice reiniciar no es un reinicio de fabrica.... Proba Pero si no, espera q se actualiza solo.

Minha paciência esta esgotando, isso me cheira incompetência!

Set date to before 8 marts, on your phone ECT.

And try again.. With home app

Then reboot all when done..

Work for me 👍🏼🙂

Kudos.. or better yet, rapidly

Thx Johnnyzero2

All three of mine are working as of this afternoon. 👍🏻

Update worked for me. After Factory-Reset i've set the Date on my iPhone temporaly to a date BEFOR 09.03.2025. After this i was able to reconnect the device to my WLAN. Update startet automaticly and now my Chromecast works fine.

@Kahuna1987 Could you please share on how to set phone to previous date?

How were supposed to know not to reset it, when I didn't get this link until I did reset it and tried to reconnect it. Work faster, Google makes enough money to hire 10,000 people to fix this problem fast. I'm not buying another device so hurry the f up.

Successfully received update on my device  ! My device is live again, thanks

Is there a way to force the update?

Funny how it worked perfectly for years, then last weekend in the middle of watching something, it broke down, nothing helped , then did a factory reset, then tried my other caster, same storie, now will not setup right,

I can see it, but setup can't complete...

Never did a factory reset before..

How can something be working for some years,

And then not at all??

Have a newer gen. 3 I guess,, work fine.. 🤔🤔🤯🤯

Feels like it's on purpose.. 🙂↕️🤔🤯

I’m one that performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting…I just did what was recommended in the help tab of the Google Home app… Waiting for the solution, thank you.

My Chromecast 2 Gen have had the certificates updated and work fine. My Chromecast audio which I removed from home is being recognized but I get either "can not communicate with" or "can not authorize" Please advise

How can it be connected??

When you can't setup the device??

It’s finally working on my end! Even though I factory reset it multiple times (lol), it didn’t work until now. I’m not sure if changing the date on my phone helped—I did that two days ago and set it up, but it still wasn’t casting. But today, I was finally able to cast! 😊

Esperando la solución porque al dejar de funcionar lo primero que hice fue restablecer valores de fábrica...

Having performed a reset, I could reconnect the Chromecast with Google Home (removed original, re-added the resetted chromecast) using my iPhone with date manual set to March 8 (thx to this advice). Google must have been rolling-out the solution, because without any further intervention form me (iPhone date set back to today), all is working correct and connected to Google Home (waited some hours).

I set up my chrome cast to factory setting. Still not working, 3 days now, please fix it as soon as possible!

I never factory reset my Chromecast audio but did remove it from Google home devices and I can't reload that currently. I've two other Google Chromecast audios that are working fine now as I never touched them having thankfully been one of the lucky ones reading the post not to do the reset but I'd already moved the one Google Chromecast audio from the home app by deleting the device and it won't reset it back up. Or it's not recognising it so I'm hoping that's the fix that still needs to be rolled out.

For the rest of it thank you kindly for your help and thank you for restoring some of my audio devices I hope others are getting that resolved too and things are starting to work better for them soon.

Update successfully applied to 2 Chromecasts. Casting works again!

I performed a factory reset (they made an official statement the day after) but readed someone changed the date on his phone before march 10 and worked. Did the same thing and worked, it allowed me to connect to my wifi, install the device and after that (with patience) the download started and finished all. Works fine. Thanks to the user who share that in this forum, I know its not a proper solution but its a solution.
