Read the status updates pinned at the top of this page. Google started rolling out a firmware update fix yesterday. It may take as long as several days for the update to hit your Chromecast.
If you did a factory reset it and you've been waiting for that specific solution, here's the fix:

Puse el móvil a fecha anterior al 8 y pude volver a conectar al WiFi.
Después de un par de días conectado al WiFi viendo fotos parece que ha revivido. Supongo que habrá llegado la actualización.

Hi, I have a Chromecast (2nd gen). Since the day it failed, my Chromecast hasn't shown any errors. Several TVs have simply stopped recognizing it, displaying a black screen. I haven't reset it to factory settings, and nothing seems to work. I haven't received any updates.

Do you have access to the wireless router these devices are connected to?
Is so you can view what date the certificates are valid for via a web browser or router commands if you know the local router ip addresses.
openssl s_client -showcerts -connect <local router ip address>:8443
or use a web browser use the url format
htttps://<<local router ip address>:8443
Then click on the icon to the left of the address bar, you can learn the date of the certificate. You will see
if the valid date is beyond 3/10/2025.
You can learn what your local ip address is by looking into your wireless router and using commands like
arp -D
you can do things like power off a unit do an arp -D then turn the device back on see what address reappears.

I did a factory reset on one of 3 of our chromecasts. When the update was push to the other 2 I set the date on my iPad to December 24 and was able to recover the one that I factory reset. It then received the update and I can now cast to it……happy days! Hey Google don’t do it again!!

Olá, tem previsão de quando esta atualização estará disponível? Neste momento estou impossibilitado de utilizar o aparelho!

My chromecast and chromecast w/google tv are up and running again. Wish Apple and Samsung would get their act together. AirPod pro 2 and Samsung TV incapable!!!!

There has never been a problem with Google Chromecast With Tv!
03-14-2025 03:57 PM
After the factory reset we are s#$& ! Maybe if the problem really is a expired certificate they will need to release a update for GoogleHome app to accept invalid certificates, and then we do the setup and afterwards release another version for Google Home app to "solve this created vulnerability"
