Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Bad News... I alredy factort reset.... what can I do now?

My chromecast connects to the wi-fi as always, but after 5-10 s, it shuts down. This problem started suddenly a couple of hours ago. Is it because of the new issue? I haven't done any factory reset. Just restarted chromecast and router. It doesn't help.

Tengo dos Chromecasts y no puedo conectar ninguno.

En los avisos dicen no restablecer configuración de fábrica.

Buenas noches! 

Tuve problemas para reproducir desde mi celular a la TV A través de mi Chromecast. Consecuentemente reestablecí el producto de fabrica. Luego ví la noticia de que sugerían no hacerlo. Se que aún están trabajando en una solución, de todas formas me gustaría saber cómo proceder en mi caso, ya que supongo que nomdebonser la única en esta situación. 

Desde ya muchas gracias por su tiempo.

La solución al problema es cambiar la fecha del dispositivo móvil con el cual estás configurando es decir yo puse 2024 y configure mi chromecast sin problemas y luego se actualiza solo esto funciona para los que restablecieron de fábrica

Ok you'll do this:

If you have an android phone, you'll go to the top right corner of your phone and tap the settings option, you'll tap on general management, then you'll tap on dare and time, make sure to turn off automatic date and time, then from there change the date once you've done that just go to Google home app and set up your chrome cast 😉

Hola a todos hoy probé lo que un usuario dijo y funciona cambien la fecha manual a su teléfono y coloquen una fecha anterior  a7/3/25 y intenten conectar con home el dispositivo se conectan luego se actualiza y listo vuelven a poner su fecha automática y solucionado suerte saludos

Les comparto lo que hice y me funciono, inténtelo puede que les sirva, puse la fecha de mi celular en 7/3, vuelven a instalar y se va a actualizar y solucionado

Queremos conectar el dron y no nos da este nos dice que no hay conexión se queda ahí nada más como que lee y nos dice que no fue conectado ya se ha recetado se ha reseteado varias veces

Olá, 

quem fez reset no cromecast, já tem várias postagens de como resolver a nova conexão, irei reforçar aqui.

  • 1 no seu celular desligue a data e horário automática e volte para o dia 8de março, assim você conseguira fazer a conexão do cromecast na tv, mas ainda não fará transmissão, esse passo é importante pois só assim o Google irá conseguir atualizar a firmware do cast. (Verificar no Google home em configurações e versão)

2 se conseguiu fazer o passo acima aguarde até sua firmware atualizar para a versão 1.56.417165, estando já com essa firmware instalada volte a play story e desinstale e reinstale o Google home e a magia acontece, pra quem ainda está com a versão de firmware anterior aguarde a atualização do dispositivo, mantendo ele conectado a internet e ligado, mas nada disso acontecera se não fazer o passo 1.

i need help i have reset my chromecast gen 2 4 days ago and i heard about the problem with chromecasts gen 2 so now i have reset everything and nothing works anymore. Can someone help me out please. If it’s possible in dutch or french ? Thanks a lot 

Hello, If you had unfortunately factory reset your Chromecast during this issue, go to your phone Date&Time settings and turn off automatic date set, manually change the date to March 7, 2025. Now try to set up the Chromecast again and it should work again.

Me funcionó en Iphone en 2 dispositivos:

1- reestablecer la fecha a 6 de marzo 2025
2-iniciar la conexión desde google home, 
3-una vez que esté tratando "de conectar con la red wifi" desenchufa la alimentación del chromecast y vuelve a enchufarlo a la corriente eléctrica.
4-cuando el chromecast se conecta nuevamente pide la contraseña de wifi y comienza a actualizarse.
