Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Updated last night and...it worked. Once! I wanted to give this device to a friend who did reset it. So to install at her home, we have to reset the new updated chromecast to find her wifi. After the new firmware it conected (it says) but does not stream...

I have Chromcast which I bought in 2018. For last one week I am unbaloe to connect to device through my mobile (android and ios). I have already factory restared the chromcast. Pl. update me about how to connect to my chromcast and start casting OTT platforms on my TV through chromcast.

I had reset the chromecast to factory settings. Google Home could no longer find the chromecast. I set my phone to March 8. Then added the chromecast again with Home. The chromecast automatically updated. After the update everything works properly again : ) Set the phone back to the current date.

Hi.. my chromecast cannot Connect with local WiFi network at Last step, just stop Connecting and it shows a message where it says visit chromcast.com/help.

hi i have factory reset my gen 2 chromecast and am unable to connect has the issue been resolved yet?  

Samsung user here which I also factory reset mine. To fix this, I set my date back on my phone until 1 March. Factory reset the chromecast again by holding button down on chromecast, and went through the steps to connect through the google home app. Managed to connect, applied the update and its working again. Once I had done this I reverted the date on my phone until today and still working.

Buenos días, sobre las recomendación de no restablecer de fábrica tarde, ya que es lo primero que hice pensando que alguna actualización es lo que lo había fastidiado.

Llevo una semana sin el Chromecast, cuando vais a dar una solución, sería tan sencillo como volver para atrás la cagada que habéis actualizado y tenernos aquí sin servicio.

J'ai trouvé une solution qui a fonctionné pour moi sur le site Frandroid.

 

Pour les personnes ayant malheureusement réinitialisé leur Chromecast.

 

Il suffit de changer la date du téléphone qui configure le Chromecast et de mettre une date antérieure au 9 mars.

 

Une fois le Chromecast configuré, vous pouvez remettre la date du téléphone à jour.

Pour moi, ça a fonctionné.

I have done the factory reset.  Ws not aware of your notice.  Kindly help.  It's saying communication issue. 

I saw a post above that was for a Samsung so I’ve just tried to do the same on my IPhone - and it has worked…

 

I changed the date in my phone to 1st March - connected to my Chromecast as per the usual process.  Once connected, I changed the date in my phone back to current date..

 

so far, so good!

Me too, i followed the guide on Google...

I got the info after I factory reseted because I didn't know then like 4 days ago what was the problem. So if and when it get fix on your side what should I do then. How long will it take to fix it I'm paying Decovery, Netflix amazon prime but it's 4 days now that I can't watch it on my tv because the chromcast and Google home is not responding 😕 so I'm paying for all my subscription but can't watche it.  It will be nice if you can resolve the issue, please and Thank you

I did a factory reset before I knew that there was a global issue - would love to know when the fix will be due for those that did do factory reset. 🤦‍♀️🙄

I had reset the chromecast to factory settings. Google Home could no longer find the chromecast. I set my phone to March 8. Then added the chromecast again with Home. The chromecast automatically updated. After the update everything works properly again : ) Set the phone back to the current date

Yo os tengo delante y os pego 4 guantazos bien dados. Hace dias que la cagasteis pero bien cagada y seguimos sin poder usar NUESTRO producto. Si sois unos incompetentes, no culpeis a los que probamos a resetear el dispositivo de fabrica porque es lo más NORMAL hacerlo. Haced las cosas bien de una vez y dejad de excusaros con tonterias o devolved el dinero a TODOS los que no podemos usar nuestro Chromecast, que para algo lo compramos.
