If you set back the date om your phone of iPad you can easily acces the chromecast in the Google Home app. Thats the easiest way to remove your Factory reset.

If you've factory-reset your Chromecast, here's a workaround to set it up again:
1. On your phone, be sure to connect to the same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast would eventually reside on
2. Rewind the date on your phone 1 year backwards, so 2025 -> 2024. Uncheck the "automatic time" checkbox.
3. Open Home app on your phone and proceed to set up your Chromecast. It should work, albeit with a very long delays. Be patient.

Of course I made a factory reset as a step in my own fault-trace when I initially lost contact with my Chromecast gen2-device. Learning about that a certificate expiration might have caused the situation I did the following:
- Initially - no contact with the CC2.
- A factory reset of the CC2.
- A manual reset of my Iphone to a past date like March 6.
- Configuration of my CC2 from scratch through the Google Home app in IOS.
- A reset of my Iphone to current time.
- A forced restart of the CC2 (for safe measures).
- After these steps I am able to cast to the CC2 again.
I hope this help someone 🙂

***There is a known fix to recover from a factory reset, and it's ridiculous that Google hasn't pinned that information to the top of this page!
Literally 90% of the people now posting here are saying "I've done a factory reset, now what can I do?" or "Any update on a fix for people who have done a factory reset??".
In the meantime, I've been posting the solution everywhere I can to help those affected:

Eu recet3i meu chormecast não estou conseguindo conectar novamente.. oque faço??
03-15-2025 06:54 AM
Please hurry Google. Many of us rely on chromecast so we can watch things on a big screen. Watching things on my phone is well, not as great. Most of us are still waiting since a factory reset is advised as a step in Chromecast recovery just about everywhere and I'm sure we all tried it... at least once. Please do a good job and try not to take too long.

Waiting for fixing.
