Oh what a nice holiday it must be, working for google 🫶🏼❤️

I’ll be danged changing the date on my phone and trying again did work! Try it.

My Chromecast is not working yet. You stop answeting X's dms and I still can't use My Chromecast. When will there be a solution?

I annoyingly did a reset when it wasnt working before I discovered this help page....any updates with how to get reconnected?

If you factory reset your device:

Set date on your phone to 7th March.

Do the chromecast configuration, should work now.

Now you will probably get the same error as before factory reset when trying to cast.

Pull the plug on the chromecast for 2 second and plug it in again.

Let it restart and it should work again.

Yyyyyy???????

How much longer do you think the fix for the factory reset is going to take. This is going on over a week at this stage

When will the fix be ready for those of us who reset the device?

Grazie 1000

Unfortunately, I factory reset my Chromecast 2nd gen, and since then, I havetried ADB sideloading, Nmap scanning, and trying to log in to it to set it up,and of course, I tried Google Home setup from Android, iPhone, and iPad without any success. Is there any way to set up the Chromecast from the webbrowser using the IP to log into it and do a manual setup without a phone?Because I tried ADB sideloading, Nmap scanning, and trying to log in to it toset it up, and of course I tried the Google Home setup from Android, iPhone,and iPad without any success. So please, if you find a solution, email me. I desperately need my device to work again.

Can you mail me  when it has been solved thank you

Its not connecting either. So how can you fix the problem?

What do you mean with 'a few days'...

A few months, perhaps 🤔?

Still nothing? It’s been a week and my Chromecast is still not back. Yes I did a reset seeing the entire failure on your part to communicate on the issue to start with.

I factory reset my Chromecast device, so it still wasn't working after Google provided the first fix. What I did was the following (and now I can use it and watch movies on my TV):

-I changed the date on my tablet (it also works with my phone) to the day before the outage started. I set the date to Saturday, March 8, 2025 .

-I factory reset my Chromecast (again) and opened the Google Home app to go through the process of adding the device . Following these two steps will update the Chromecast to the version it had before the global issue occurred, so you'll be able to add the device to your phone and tablet (but we're not done yet).

-Once the Chromecast has successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network, it will begin updating . I waited for it to reach 100%, but then it tried to update again. I closed the Google Home app and reopened it. I noticed the device was added, but I still couldn't connect to it (as if I had gone back to Sunday, March 9th).

-So I unplugged the Chromecast (just to turn it off) , even though it was still trying to update (I unplugged it when it was about 36% complete).

-I changed the date on my tablet (or phone) back to the current day, and then plugged the Chromecast back in to turn it on . As far as I know, the device will update to the latest version automatically when it reconnects to a Wi-Fi network. This update is the one Google released to fix the issue that caused all the connection errors worldwide on Sunday, March 9th.

-Now you can be HAPPY and use your Chromecast device normally again , stream movies or series on your TV and rest from the stress of the week.

Bea.

Har dere fått ordnet det snart?

it's work 🙏

I have done factory reset please let me know the solution

Solution for those who FACTORY RESET their Chromecast devices (optional):

Please fix this, my Chromecast was factory reset and now i can't even set it up, 'cause it keeps showing on my google home the message: couldn't authenticate your device

My 2 Chromecast Audios just came back up within 24 hours of each other. Each went non visable on the network right before coming back up.  Nice to have music again.

Not working again.  Ouch - back to research on replacing Google hardware - inherently unstable

I performed a reset before knowing of the issue, please advise

Same. Changing the date to March 5 on my iPhone did the trick.

Hi any update on when a fix will be sent to those that reset their devices? Ira been down since Sunday afternoon for me 😞

It's now Saturday, and I still can't use my Chromecast. I did a factory reset last Sunday when the issue began. Can I expect a fix, or should I just get a different casting device?

Hi! , is there any update for people who have factory reset their Chromecast? I'm not able to connect my device. I need a solution, please 🙏🏻. Thank you!

For me, this worked: On mobile, in the settings, change the date/time to 01.3. and turn off the automatic settings. Open the Home app quite normally install ChromeCast. Wait for the Chromecast to update. Return android to normal time and automatic settings.

I'll try! Thanks!🙏🏻

It's possible to reconnect the device after a factory reset. You need to change the date of your phone earlier than march 9th before launching the Chromecast setup with Google home.

I'll try! Thanks!!

chromecast 3 generation i can't get set up on my new wifi network. I get the message Can't connect to Wi-Fi. This device has been set up by another user. Make sure your network name and password are correct. Reset the factory settings of the device. What should I do? I can't get my chromecast to work?

Did a factory reset any updates here?
