I just tried re-adding my Chromecast Audio via my Google Home on my Pixel 7 phone and I still get the "We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast Audio" message. I probably did factory reset my device when the problem occured, before Google posted their initial message not to do so. Now I'm waiting for a fix...
03-16-2025 08:05 AM
You have to wait for Google to fix it. They already fixed my regular Chromecast. I was able to add my Chromecast audio back to my home devices by changing the date on my phone to before 3/7 but it won't work until Google updates the certificate. Should be this week.

I factory reset before even knowing about the firmware problem, so I hope there's a way out of it soon, I use my chromecast religiously. I think if there's no fix for factory reset devices then an upgrade should be offered atleast...

Please try to fix this asap. I never expected this much delay for a fix from Google product.

I forced date on the smartphone to first of march, after that I was able to reconfigure it with app home. Now (after the update) is still working fine.

My iPhone won’t let me do it
03-16-2025 05:22 AM
Change iPhone date and then connect chromecast.
03-16-2025 06:43 AM
Mine wouldn’t let me either. I had to do it with my iPad
03-16-2025 06:17 AM
I did that and it worked!!!
To be safe and not cause any potential issues with other apps I a) used an old device that I can connect to wifi b) made sure any syncable apps were not sync c) then change the date, setup CCAudio and finally reset the date.
It was eazzy-breezy!
